help please (characters gone?!?!?) - Llama - 12-22-2009 Ok, please only an administrator read this for players will have and offer no help in this matter. Ok. This is what has happend; i recently got windows 7. as i whent to install it i read the options i had, "upgrade (where i keep all files for everything and lose nothing)" and "custom (where most files are kept and some can and have a chance to be lost)". i clicked upgrade and it all whent well until; i went to freelancer, started up discovery and then disaster. apparently my freelancer ID was reset somhow during the installation. i had no idea of such a thing happening since i selected upgrade, and now i have no characters or any money... this bring me to my next point, is it possible, in any form, for me to identify that i am the owner of the lost accounts and get them restored? please please help me, i do not want these characters lost:( p.s i am able to provide details such as, ships, names, weapons, last place of death. and location of them at the current moment. please get back to me as soon as you can. cheers, darkgravity. help please (characters gone?!?!?) - tansytansey - 12-22-2009 Did you back up your account using FLAM? If not, then you'll be lucky to get them back. help please (characters gone?!?!?) - Llama - 12-22-2009 i didnt think id need to back them up since i ran an upgrade:(but thankyou for thinking and posting that, i will do that ASAP if i can get my ID back (if my ID cant be retreaved, ill provide information to get the characters back.) thanks anyway dude;) help please (characters gone?!?!?) - Moneybags - 12-22-2009 Actually, backing them up now wont get them back. FLMM keeps the ID there when you restart freelancer and other good things like that. It would have kept them over the upgrade, but because you didin't have them backed up before, you will have no acess to the account. The admins do though, but good luck trying to get them to retreve it for you. They used to do it (or somehting near to it) but not anymore I don't think. And besides, I hear most of them don't have souls or something :D help please (characters gone?!?!?) - Llama - 12-22-2009 then i must just pray that they will help me, i feel like the biggest fool for not backing them up, i didnt think the upgrade would loose them though... i hope they have souls:PFellowHoodlum seems to be nice, i've read some of his other post and ieven say sombody who wrote a song to him haha. for now, i just wait...and hope that they will take mercy. help please (characters gone?!?!?) - ArmsAndLegs Guy - 12-22-2009 ' Wrote:then i must just pray that they will help me, i feel like the biggest fool for not backing them up, i didnt think the upgrade would loose them though...If you have FLAM and the accounts in there, just restore the account. If you don't have FLAM you are SOL. Sorry. We can't help when people do something stupid on their machines. We can help if it is the server that does something stupid. A & L Guy help please (characters gone?!?!?) - Mere_Mortal - 12-22-2009 ' Wrote:"upgrade (where i keep all files for everything and lose nothing)" and "custom (where most files are kept and some can and have a chance to be lost)".If you're installing the operating system afresh, including an upgrade or restore, you will lose the registry information you previously had even though the user files, and sometimes the system files, may remain exactly as they were. This often means reinstalling complicated applications, although most typical program files will still run even thought they're not "installed". Evidently, you did indeed lose your registry to a new one so with that went the Freelancer online data for your computer's accounts. Use FLAM or the registry itself to backup this data in future. |
