Try the Bottlenose. That seems to be a nice agile Gunship.
Although... I would suggest that you consider getting used to role playing and other things before working up to a gunboat...

And as Alex already said.."I would suggest that you consider getting used to role playing and other things before working up to a gunboat" so basicly ... try fighters and bombers.. learn how things work don't buy gunboat before you test area in your fighter you might not like it later and you will just lose couple of millions and when you are new each million means a lot.

And don't forget that Gunboats get owned by 2 bombers. Some skilled bombers can solo them. I know with a Barghest and some average skill you can take out a Bottlenose with no armour upgrade.

A Sabre with an Inferno can take out a gunboat, for that matter.
Best advice I have for you is to keep a trader character, and make a new one with a fighter of some sort. A House military one somewhere, perhaps. Learn to fly that.

Check out the forums, especially the ship ID requirements. You may find that you can't actually own that shiny new ship if you get it. (The BHG are very possessive of their ships now.)

On a side note, like everyone else said: Use a fighter/bomber first to get used to roleplaying.

Rather than asking 'what is a good ship for me to fly' ask 'what is a faction I like to fly' and make a ship according to that.
