Kaz has an idea. - Kazinsal - 01-17-2010 Here's my next craptastic idea to be shot down in flames! So we all know that the LN, both official (yes, Admiral MacTavish, I'm pointing at you) and indies, is itching to invade Rheinland. The RM is probably itching to try to kick the crap out of a balanced LN force (that means no indy capspam olololol). So, why not do this? We have the official [LN] and [RM] take balanced fleets (the balance according to each faction's admirals) of official members and certain indies into Hamburg for a massive battle. Maybe also have the XA- and Unioners join in the fun, also balanced by the official [LN] and [RM] factions. Indies in snubcraft (smaller than a gunboat) can ask to join in, but only a few indie caps (including gunboats) can join, yet again balanced by the officials. Fighters would be relatively unlimited. Now, of course, with any major battle, there has to be a prize involved. Maybe if the [RM] wins, they get a chunk of each Bering and Hudson, and if the [LN] wins, they get a small chunk of Hamburg. If there's, say, a war between Russia and China (which won't likely happen in real life, but you understand what I'm thinking), and Russia wins a battle in the edge of Chinese territory, Russia will occupy that territory. If the Chinese win, the Russians will be pushed back and the Chinese army will probably take a chunk of Russian territory near the battle. Okay, I'm done. Comments? This is by no means a "HEY GUIZ WE'Z GUNNA DO AN EVENT NAU KTHX". This is a "hey, would this be a cool idea?". Cheers, --Troy Kaz has an idea. - Asgardian - 01-17-2010 I like the idea. Providing the timeslot isn't too late for us Aussies and my internet can handle the battle...count me in! Kaz has an idea. - Fletcher - 01-17-2010 I'm still wondering why a battle didn't take place before like this. But I'm unsure about the territories thing. Disco lore may not approve of it and occupying space isn't regarded as being friendly. Well thats war! Sadly, I got no ships capable of joining this unless my Sentinels gain clearance to leave Liberty space. Kaz has an idea. - Malexa - 01-18-2010 We had larger battles already. Nowadays the problems are: A: Get the people online at times where all can play (impossible due to the server beeing at 200/200 at around 1900 Zulu time) B: Server lag. (since .85 or the hacking attempt all battles beeing a bit larger than 8 to 10 ships make it impossible to play) C: I don't like drawing new lines in the environment via a prizing system. The fights and battles should be fun and not beeing dominated by "who can get more aces online at once". If you offer a system or parts of it, there will be a "we have to win at all costs". Thats what I am actually getting rid of in the RM as well. Its about the fun, not losing or winning. Kaz has an idea. - Shryke - 01-18-2010 Why not have 2 smaller battles in two separate systems, like a front line and not a salient? It at least solves the lag problem slightly. Kaz has an idea. - Drakaisyl - 01-19-2010 Why don't make a surprise attack from liberty/rheinland ships to new Hampshire/Bremen and so on ? Would be some new locations where to fight in,not always Hamburg/texas/bering/hudson.Would also be interested in my eyes.Maybe we could split it up,[LN] lunches an fake attack on Hamburg to move the [RM] to intercept while some indies use the chance and escort some troop taransports maybe to capture the Stationary BS in Bremen, lead by a [LN] member to not become a chaos.Maybe some smaller caps (gb/cruiser) can take part as escort, too for the Troop transports. Some Rheinland indies could be in Bremen aswell and come in,when the battle inside the ship reaches its hot phase. If the Rheinland reenforcements manage to take out the cruiser/fighter/gunboat escort of the troop transports, liberty would have been defeated and the stationary bs remains as it is.If liberty is successfull let's say the stationary bs is heavy damaged and takes some time to repair, meaning admins may disable the ship for a periode of time (2 days for example). That would make it in my eyes interesting for everyone to take part at the event. But that's only my thoughts, written diuring a school lessen, without having planned anything:D Kaz has an idea. - Petitioner - 01-24-2010 Sounds good. If Hessians are allowed in I'll be making a bomber character right about now... >.> Kaz has an idea. - Tovig - 02-03-2010 What about =LSF= ? Kaz has an idea. - Contaan - 02-03-2010 http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?sh...=42644&st=0 Trying to get this idea back up as well, perhaps we can do them both soon? Kaz has an idea. - Marcus Lindberg - 02-03-2010 ' Wrote:What about =LSF= ? =LSF= doesn't necessarily participate in massive, conventional battles (unless Rheinland outright invades/or attacks/raids), their usually behind the lines with sabotage and all. I can see them participating in maybe another area of the battle, such as ambushing Rheinland reinforcements or something. |
