Hello, dear children! This is Captain John “Spades” Stern with the very first tale ‘bout his amazing adventures in Sirius (Alpha Canis Maioris).

It started quite ordinary, solving ordinary problems. After financing a Camara and hiring a good crew, I started a Freelancer’s career as peaceful trader and explorer. The first aim was to get a clean Zoner ID and IFF as soon as possible. However that proved to be a bit more intricate than I suspected at first. Since the Zoner faction - due to their neutrality - does not offer specific missions and paying one single bribe wasn’t enough. So I decided to support the few Zoner allies by flying a a couple of combat missions for them. That promised to be some fun for the pilot at last. Since we spent quite some time in the Omicrons, the GMG missions didn’t seem to be a real challenge (and I will not shoot at Corsairs!) we set course to find an Order base to support that heroic battle against the creepy squids. So we discovered Toledo and Battleship Isis. After some short explanations a helpful Order officer granted permission to fly missions and advised to use a recruit ID for the time of service.

We successfully flew the Order missions – up to the point I didn’t want to kill Bounty Hunters any more for business reasons. Beyond that I wanted to fight some squids. So we headed for system Omikron 100. That decision discovered to be slightly naive (//noobish) because the system was guarded by some order ships and the pilots obviously weren’t informed ‘bout my concern. They forced us to turn back. We returned to Omicron Minor and the trouble started.

Let’s call the two Pilots that escorted me back to the Isis “Buggs” (the discreet one) and “Duffy” (the trigger-happy one) to simplify matters. A few Corsairs witnessed the following episode.

Additionally I’m taking the liberty to reproduce the conversation as I recall.

Duffy: What are you doing here?!?
Spades: Exploring. I look for missions to kill some Nomads…
Buggs: Jumping to 100 was a bad Idea.

We reached the Battleship and as usual I gave the docking order.

Duffy: Darn. He’s docking! Who gave him permission?!? (Opens fire – too late)
Spades: (docked) Wtf.. stop firing at me! I’m your ally, fool!
Duffy: How can you dare?!? I’m Lieutenant <sth important>!!
Spades: Because you didn’t trash me completely..Thanks for that (grr)!
Buggs: Do you carry recruit ID?
Spades: Positive
Duffy: You lie! I don’t want him in the Order.
Spades: Well… a little paranoia might happen.. relax!
Duffy: Undock! I want to check out something…
Spades: Roger. (undocking)
Duffy: Allright, you stressed my nerves long enough.. good bye!
Spades: (without responding fire: BOOM…)

Death is considered as a harsh cut in everybody’s life. I refrained from launching some ugly post-mortem maledictions and meditated ‘bout the differences of human beings. No doubt – that moron must be nailed!

Safe flight everybody (except a certain bonehead)!

Spades
