what do you guys think of this:
Space Tanks, similar to the armored transport and spatial
basically it'd be an armored freighter, something that could haul decent cargo and be well protected. Think of modern day tanks except being able to carry cargo. like modern tanks you could allow them to mount one big turret on it.
yes we have two of them already but i was thinking of freighter sized ones....and lets face it 2 just isn't enough.
i imagine it would work for both pirates and lawfuls
i hope i explained it well enough. please feel free to elaborate further, lets brain storm

dunno really. i imagine there would be different classes...the higher the class the higher the price and gun mountables
it'd have to be somewhat big. i mean modern tanks have huge cannons on them

could be another option to the bomber and gunboat...something inbetween maybe.
and you could trade more safely and cheaper in it.
i mean a gunboat is a lot bigger than a tank in real life. and instead of having torpedo slots like a bomber it'd have a big turret and loads of armor

huh?
ok for example...the clydesdale or the humpback freighter...cause they look tankish to me...imagine them with say a cruiser turret on them and more armor. maybe a bigger shield...they'd be slow turning but you'd still have to deal with a mama jama gun shooting at you.

I have to agree with Templar.
Ships in Freelancer pretty much follow airforce & navy type vehicles, not so much army-style land vehicles. I'm not trying to relate this to RL! Just using logic here...
It just seems redundant after already having bombers which don't even use actual bombs-- they use a pair of giant cannons. Plus, Nova's are already exploited-- everyone agrees they are not being used the way they were originally intended. It seems like this might just add more fuel to that fire.

Meh, people would use that as a freighter with big guns so they don't get pirated...
Idea = fail for upsetting the balance.

what's to stop a pirate from using one? it'd have a bigger cargo hold to carry loot
and most pirates would be able to take it down anyway. doesn't matter what you fly
EDIT: it creates more variety with more choices. what about the armored transport...it's not a boat.
