Faction Status Required? - Downbound - 03-20-2010
I represent a small group of wealthy merchants who are unhappy with the meager level of protection provided by the governments and their unwillingness to bring the battle to those interests who interfere with business. given our wealth, we have met and planned our own law. It is not our concern nor worry that local police and military may consider us to be a threat to their competency and outlaw us.
I have two questions:
1) will this require a new 'faction'?
2) anywhere someone with a lot of money could come across blackmarket military equipment. Cruisers, battleships, the like.

No and No buddy.
If you are a corperation, you are stuck with the worse guns possible, though the ships arent bad. Also, Nothing bigger than a bomber, excepting transports. if its not a corperation, which I think it would be, then the most likely think seems A vigilante thing, which is alos limited to snubcraft and rather piddly civilian weapons. A vigilante/corperate Battleship makes -no- sense when you think about it

Honestly? There are really no shady factions in say, Rheinland who need cash more than battleships?

It kind of does if you think about it. Given the volatile times in the sector and the Rheinland government's financial problems, it seems possible that something could be arranged for the right price. I could name many popular examples in comics and literature. Batman, Ironman, The Count of Monte Cristo, The Three Musketeers, arguably Beowulf. . etc.
I'm not going to argue this to death however, I think it's perfectly possible in the crumbling state of affairs that military equipment could end up 'missing'

Sorry, thought this WAS the place for this. Also, yeah, I know it doesn't fit the tech chart. Thus why up top it says for exceptions, you need to make a special request.

For each and every battleship. PLus, you need to write a -huge- story to get it accepted. and Srsly, Capital craft arent allowed for vigilante or Corperate ID's. And BAttleships dont just go missin either, as they are some of the most secured pieces of technology in the sector.

Obviously there would have to be a lot of back story and it would have to be well done. That's a given. Basically this was a feeler to see what the powers that be said would be even thinkable. I know that it's VERY outside the norms, I know that it isn't normal and I know we may only be able to find some cruisers. But it's worth asking about and I think the addition would be not only fun for us but for rogue factions and enforcement as well.

it would be extremly unuseual for you to obtain -gunboats- let alone cruisers. At any rate, most cap craft is killed by a pair of bombers, so just field a buncha those.

Perhaps it should be moved to rules, as it stands, it is more a rules question now, than a faction question.
