The thrill of Discovery - Fletcher - 03-26-2010

Ok, while it can be silly, but sometimes I get too immersed into games. The biggest champion of immersion to me is Gears of War 2, in one situation only. When you go against your best friend one-on-one with chainsaws... I literally roar as I mash the buttons to cleave his body. Got rid of the game though.

Anyhow, what situation/s usually get you immersed or into the zone?

In my case, its when I'm sprinting from pirates as they attempt to pirate me. Only three times in my time on here have I ever been caught, I'm that twitchy when I'm trading. Its the thrill of "I just gotta run or my time shall be wasted and them children will never get new shoes!!" Or something.

The thrill of the escape/chase is just so much fun. Without it, I probably wouldn't be here. Trading would be THAT boring.

When I'm the last guy alive in my assault force with my Liberator...

The recoil of Battleship cannons, the cries of capwhorage. I just face-roll the WASD keyboard and it takes care of my evasive action.

I really somewhat enjoy that, I find myself singing outloud to myself when the battle actually started for a 'good' roleplay reason. If you were watching me IRL you would think I was crazy.

For me, it's when I'm on my own on a Keeper and there's a swarm of people out for blood.

1. Fighting. Doesn't matter what my ship, my opponent, the numbers, the location, or the reason. Of course, how I usually feel afterward is another story entirely...

2. Talking my way out of fighting. Yes, I love to fight. But I also love resolving those situations without needing to fight, whether by convincing the other guy I'm something I'm not or that it's really in their best interest to just do what I've told them.

A capfight with someone who I know knows what they are doing.

Fighting bomber swarms. I just love hitting 2 salvos and seeing them squirm as they mash the FG keys.

The feeling of victory when I see my target dip into their shield batteries too soon.

Doing a battle group op with the RHA. Dern good pilots and fun to fly with.

Although it's not really a thrill, I'm tense right before I go into battle, and sometimes during.

Winning one is great, though.

1v1 fights. When I'm almost winning against a superior/equally good opponent, I usually get thrilled, nervous and lose focus, mostly giving my opponent the upper hand.

I also get the thrill when I'm being pirated. Will I RP myself out of the situation? Or do I have a chance to escape to the nearest station? It can get really heart-destroying at times.

That. And if I'm heavily outnumbered , I get even more imersed. As long as I have someone with me, or think I have a chance, I'll stay in there and do my best. Zero chance = sun/planetdive

Oh and I really enjoy a good capfight.
