Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - McNeo - 09-14-2007 Ok, so here it is for those who haven't. Quote:Price: 75000 - NovaPG ID Essentially, this allows the NovaPG to both pirate and terrorize if I am not mistaken. Also, it is not clarified whether or not a battleship or cruiser can attack a trader in an "act of terrorism" or not. If the NovaPG are allowed to terrorise and pirate, then they (in my oh so humble opinion) should only be able to terrorise with fighters. If not, NovaPG battle groups will be able to kill anyone they come across without saying a word, while still having the right to charge them for passage if they need money. Now, this seems a bit unfair to me, for all the other clans that should be able to do this (like Gaian so-called Eco Terrorists, and most other pirate factions whose underlying objective is to do both.) I would recommend limiting them to *either* pirateing, or terrorising. Its just not fair on the rest if the NovaPG have the best of both worlds and no one else does. As an addition: This isn't an opportunity for the BSG or any other anti-NovaPG clan to start slagging off the NovaPG, so if you do it, I will stamp on your fingers. Make all arguments reasoned please, no need for more flames. Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - Doom - 09-14-2007 i dont see problem here...NovaPG so far role played as Blood dragons and as far as i know they will remain aligned to them. Blood dragons are: Quote:The Blood Dragons are a terrorist Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - McNeo - 09-14-2007 Then they should not be able to pirate. If their only goal is to terrorise. Right now, they can do both. Addendum: My point was not whether or not they are pirates, my point was that they shouldn't be able to do both. If they are allowed to terrorise because of what the Dragon history is, that is fine. But they can't then pirate, it is unfair... Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - Unseelie - 09-14-2007 where does that id say anything about pirating? Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - McNeo - 09-14-2007 Good god...: Quote:Pilot carrying this ID has joined Nova PowerGen. NovaPG ID grants its owner right to scan other ships and demand cargo... Is that not pirating? Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - Unseelie - 09-14-2007 not neccisarily...most government factions get that too.... Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - McNeo - 09-14-2007 Come on...this is an unlawful faction we are talking about. There is a difference between stopping smugglers and stopping any old trader and demanding cargo or money... But it appears I am the only one who see's the NovaPG's ability to pirate and terrorise at the same time as bad. Also, i think that just about ANY unlawful faction except the Xenos can pirate...this is made clear on the Xeno infocard but not on the NovaPG infocard, as it implies that they can do both. This I think is unfair. Sorry if I didn't make it clear enough the first time round, but i didn't think you would poke holes in my arguement.. But it looks like I'm in the minority again. Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - Drake - 09-14-2007 Pirating on Discovery, as some people have pointed out, isn't "real" pirating. It's extortion and protection rackets. Since the NovaPG ID doesn't specifically say that they're allowed to pirate trading vessels (as I believe other pirate IDs say), then they wouldn't be allowed to tell traders "2mil or die". Asking for cargo is, as Unseelie points out, is more like what the lawful factions get to confiscate contraband. I don't know what kind of cargo the NovaPG would be asking for. So the NovaPG is allowed to blow up people, traders, whomever they want (within RP), and they can demand cargo from traders (as long as they aren't in big ships), but they can't ask for extortion money. Weird. Hmm, just read the NovaPG ID - Malaclypse 666 - 09-14-2007 Your orginal post was perfectly clear to me, McNeo. Google "obtuse". Now, I will have to say that from my experience, NovaPG has never "pirated" in the past. They used their Bushido lackeys to do that, and simply transferred the cash. I do believe this is changing, though; as Bushido has now become its own Faction, and I'm not aware of any continuing clandestine "monkeyshines". So in effect, NovaPG has stood by their role as pure terrorists, on the face of it. But, I do agree that this new ID description does provide a gaping loophole. Could it or will it be exploited? I don't know. Waiting to hear from both NovaPG and the "Creator" on the matter.
