Outcasts/Bretonia - bluntpencil2001 - 09-28-2007 Right, as we all apparently know, both the Outcasts and the Corsairs have taken sides in the Kusari/Bretonia war. The Outcasts are clandestinely aiding Bretonia; the Corsairs aiding Kusari. Now, this is partly due to geography. The Outcasts have no real bases to launch attacks into Bretonia, and the Corsairs are the same with Kusari. But, they have been known to aid each other too. The Outcasts attack the KNF, as do their allies, the Mollys (who temporarily shifted their targets from the BAF onto the KNF in a semi-joint venture). The Corsairs and their allies, the Gaians, attack Bretonia. Now, Bretonian forces by the MacDuff were recently attacked by an Outcast Dreadnought and a Gunboat. Would you consider this utterly out of Roleplay, considering that the reasoning behind the attack was to 'test the Battleship out'? Outcasts should be attacking Kusari; Corsairs should be attacking Bretonia. Even if the rumours about pirates allying with the houses are just only rumours, there should be at least some grounding for them, right? There would never be news bulletins about secret pacts if they attacked Bretonia with Battleships. Am I right? Outcasts/Bretonia - Malaclypse 666 - 09-28-2007 I haven't the foggiest. All of that is as confusing as some of the Discordian crap I throw about. No Outcast bases in Bretonia? Do a search for "Cape Wrath", mate. Rumors aside, I think that Outcasts and Corsairs both are going to shoot at whoever will give them the most political and tactical advantage at the time. Regardless of the "News". This again is a question of "static" vs. "dynamic". We've seen lots of strange alliances lately, that stretch the boundaries of the "static" universe we're bound by. That to me is what makes the game interesting. It allows for more innovation and flexibility. I'm not sure what you're asking for here. If the various "under-the-table" alliances and double-dealings are done with roleplay foremost in mind, and with at least a nod to the npc faction alignments we're "saddled" with; then I say throw those Chao chips, and let the dung land where it may. I dunno.. but my post count just went up by one.. Discuss, Mal Outcasts/Bretonia - bluntpencil2001 - 09-28-2007 Not exactly my point, but yeah... There is no political or tactical gain from moving a giant warship into Bretonian controlled space for the Outcasts. It only gets them another enemy, when once they had a common enemy. Under-the-table alliances are to be expected... but along RP lines. KNF and TBH for instance. Perfect. Or QCP and, uh, Outcasts. Outcasts/Bretonia - BestFlyerHere - 09-28-2007 Seeing as the Blood Dragons are Outcast allies, I find it perfectly in RP for Outcasts to attack Kusari. Now, to openly side with Bretonia is another matter. Cardamine-infested druggies siding with British-accented pilots with the ugliest ships in Discovery? I'm assuming (Which does make an ass of you and me, yes I know.) that the Outcasts could safely attack Kusari, while launching an occasional raid upon Bretonia, just to even the odds. My 3 pennies (Which are not copper...) Outcasts/Bretonia - bluntpencil2001 - 09-28-2007 They don't openly side with Bretonia, true... but evening the odds? I don't think so. Especially with anything bigger than a light fighter that's only there to pose in front of news cameras with a 'We're not helping Bretonia, honest' sign. A battleship is entirely out of the question. And ugliest ships?! They're prettier than the Junkers! And the Mollys! Outcasts/Bretonia - Photuin - 09-28-2007 The only Bretonian small ship which looks decent (in my opinion) is the Clydesdale (which I don't fly for obvious reasons). The Cavalier/Hussar isn't that bad, but still shrimp-like. Anyway, the negotiations between Bretonia and the Outcasts are supposed to be as "secret" as possible. No deliberate aid. Outcasts/Bretonia - Fellow Hoodlum - 09-28-2007 Thread moved here so discussion can continue, and hopefully not about the aesthetics of faction ships. Hoodlum Outcasts/Bretonia - Dab - 09-28-2007 Regardless of who their main target is, the Outcasts will still be attacking Bretonia. True, they attack Kusari because their main bases are near them, and they have pirated that house for a long time. However, because Outcasts focus on KNF, that doesn't mean they are now neutral to BAF. If they see you, they will shoot you. Same thing for Bundschuh. Corsairs might be common enemies of RM, but that doesn't mean Bundschuh will go neutral with them so they can attack just RM. I follow that with my Wraith chars. RM comes first, but I still shoot Corsairs. Its what Outcasts do. KNF comes first, but Bretonia gets shot too. Also, keep in mind that all the information about Outcasts 'supposedly' working for Bretonia are rumors made by KNF and Corsairs. Now, how biased is that information? There is yet any official, unofficial, or proven information saying that Outcasts are working for Bretonia. Also, the infocard on Outcasts still clearly states Bretonians as legit targets. Now, I was on Skype with the guy that attacked you last night. We were all talking about it. We all agreed that Outcasts are still definitely enemies of Bretonia. Would these rumours end up on the news with battleships attacking for no real reason? Shooting BAF in their space is understandable... but sending a military fleet to BAF-sontrolled space? It sounds to me like you're saying that a revolutionary Rheinland faction (Bundschuh) would shoot RM before shooting Corsairs, even though these Corsairs are invading Rheinland space. No revolutionary worth his salt would let his homeland be invaded by complete outsiders, he'd stop the internal battle and repel the invaders, don't you think? Or am I misunderstanding your point? |
