If you read the Nomad lore it's logical.
You aren't recovering a nomad when you destroy one of their ships, you tractor in nomadic matter.
Thus, to stop confusion; the name should be changed to "Nomadic Matter" or "Nomadic Remains"

Yep, it makes more sense that way. I always kind of wondered why it wasn't like this to begin with. Same thing with the Nomad brains. Just doesn't make a whole ton of sense IMO.

Nomad Remains, perhaps. It's harder to name the gunboat/battleship 'pilot' drops if we go with that, however.

You could call them nomad husks or something of the sort. I think people would name the remains something of the sort. Then it could use the greater, etc adjectives for the cap ships.
Though it would be interesting if some larger ships dropped those derelict power cells.

You're forgetting that people of Sirius can't read the nomad lore... So confusion about the nature of these remains is I guess something to be expected.
So... Meh.
Actually I'd prefer naming it something like "Unidentified nomad tissue"...
