faction Leader means just one faction? - alance - 10-26-2007

edit: Since you guys responded so fast I'll put my old question back in here in a second:P

The faction creation rules state that a "character" may only be in one faction, but a "player" may have characters in multiple factions. Simple enough and we all take advantage of this I think.

But further down in that post there is this part:

Quote:I. How to create basic faction, clan, group without affiliation or home system?

1) Each faction has only one leader. When creating a faction, leader cannot be member of any other faction. Leader must also have at least one character of level 50 or above.

Is this assuming the Leader is a character or a player? If Leader = Character then I'm free to retain characters in other factions right? If Leader = Player then I'd be restricted to only having characters in the faction I lead, correct?

Search didn't come up with anything to clarify this for me.

dunno....but, I do know of plenty of faction leaders who are in other factions....

I'm not sure, but it seems to me that this is to prevent a character leading a faction from participating in another faction at the same time. That sounds to me like the most reasonable explanation.

EDIT: Okay, now we just look silly. =P

Key phrase there is "When creating a faction." It was explained to me that you need to hault your active membership in other factions whilst you create your new faction. After that continue with your former factions. Dont really understand the purpose of it, but oh well.

I believe the point is that a faction needs an active leader and lots of gametime before it becomes a cohesive unit...dunno why that's a rule though...

It has been discussed earlier: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6932

But yeah, as far as I know only the character my not join another faction, the Player, however, can. Otherwise, there would be many, many chars missing here...

I think we will take that as players can, characters can't ... Seems the most sensible solution.

Hoodlum

Is there a reason for that at all?

I see some good reasoning for certain, rare, characters having good roleplay to be members of multiple factions.

I'm still a fan of the one faction per player rule... JMO.
