I had never seen the calendar before, and I've been here quiiiiite a while, let alone the fact that I'm a full board admin. Using it to set events is a good idea. Calendar - Xoria - 11-13-2007 I have no idea to what extent the structural format of this forum can be modified, but if the calendar is going to be at all useful for event notification it is going to need to be given much greater visibility than it currently has. Perhaps some sort of subscription to event notices that members could turn on or off in their profile would be useful. Then they would get automatic notices about event changes to the calendar. Or perhaps the calendar could behave in a similar way to unread forum threads, or threads that have new posts. Move the calendar link to just left of the "My Controls" link and set it so that it highlights itself when events are added, or an event is happening within a certain time frame, like in the next 24 or 48 hours. But like I said, I don't know how modifiable the forum structure is, I just think that the calendar needs to grab our attention more in order to be useful for event notifications. |
