Weapons setup for a Titanic trading ship - mef - 07-22-2010

Hello fellows,

Some suggestions for a Titanic weapon setup? Currently I have 6 Transport Turret Type 4 but these are draining power fast.

I did search on the forum and Montezuma, a forum user, suggested for a Pirate Train 2 Adv. Debilitator Turret Mk II or something similar and for the rest, class 5 turrets.
For a lawful trader, what would be my options?

Also, some questions about shields. Why should I use a lesser shield, isn't desirable that regeneration of shields to be as bigger as possible?
What is the connection between shield generation and energy generation? If I don't have energy any more, shields are not re-generating?

Thanks.

Don't know about the Titanic setup, I would just pay up if any pirates were to pirate me.

As for the shields question, use a bigger shield. I think that shields will regenerate at a smaller rate, if you have little energy.

With a Titanic Heavy Tanker... your weapons set-up is pretty irrelevant, except for dealing with npc's. You may as well have Purple Goddess turrets. The Titanic only has a 60,000 power capacity, with a recharge rate of 5,000. Compare that to the Shire, which has 90,000 and 7,500, or the Mammoth, with 30,000 and 3,000.

If you're going to use Transports, then use TT3's, which only have a drain of 250 per gun, instead of the 700 per gun that you're using now. You'll have a few more seconds of shooting capacity.

Advanced Deb turrets use 90 per gun, purps use 122...

People sometimes do this if they are afraid of facing bombers. A weaker shield takes less shield batteries to recharge it, so if a SNAC hits your shield, drops it, you can bring it straight up again. It just lets you absorb more.

Now if you run into a group of Kraken Sabres or a turret gunboat or something.. you sir, are screwed:)

Yea, thats right, Even with the best load out you will find yourself pretty vulnerable to pirates. A titanic is among the easiest it can get for a pirate.

SO its best to focus on out of battle option like scout/escort , road , open pace over lane ....
Even Stronger NPC with for example corsair titan, will always disrupt you and destroy your hull faster then you think.

For the shield, the bigger one are effective in general, but you can try the smaller one for the the re-engage time of the shield which take several second off from the bigger one and can still absorb a regular snac shot from a lone player bomber.

Now if you can take down fighter with a titanic , there is a problem or something odd.

Try full debilitators. They also drain energy, so you can make a pirate transport to run out fast, thus rendering it unable to shoot. But with it, it's still better to stop after the first CD.

If you is flying a big old ship, be prepared to pay the man. Doesnt matter what guns you got you are so slow and such a big target. Your best bet is class 5's and at least you can shoot a wee bit longer, not that it will do you much good though!
