THE WATCH - Corujao - 08-29-2010 THE WATCH
(Watch+Br.name of character or Watch+name of ship in the case of gunboats, transports and liners)
The Watch is a mendicant religious order, created by Abbot Benjen after he has been visited by the One in his dreams. They believe that the end of days is coming and only through penance and the spreading of the word of the One they'll survive and gain salvation. The duties of the members of the Watch include mining and hauling junk and spread the word of the One throughout Sirius. Also, the members may ask for alms (money or cargo) from any ships they encounter. If the ship refuses to give alms, it should be sent unharmed. If they display pride they might be punished for the wrongness of their ways. In any case, that ship must receive the blessing of the One. If attacked the members of the Watch shall retribute fire and cleanse the sinners. The members of the Watch can't engage in any illegal activities, except contraband which is necessary for the fight against the greediness of the great corporations. Being a mendicant order, it's members shouldn't pursue wealth. The order shall provide all its members with the necessary equipment for them to perform their duties and for their defense. From the Book of The Watch And the One created Mankind. And Mankind created the Junk. And the Junk filled the Universe, polluting the worlds and endangering space travel. And the One saw the Junk and said it was the punishment for Mankind's pride. And those that made the Junk were called Polluters. And those who collected the Junk were blessed by the One. We are the Watch. Chosen by the One to stand watch to the end of days. We travel through space collecting what others throw away in the name of the One. This is our destiny. This is our penance. Like the cockroaches we survive anywhere and everywhere, under any conditions. Like them we are unclean, but collecting the Junk shall cleanse our sins. When the end comes we shall be there to testify the arrival of the One. When the time arrives for all the sinners to be punished, we shall sit by the side of the One and judge them. We are in peace with all who respect us and fight fiercely all those who oppose us. Our enemies are the polluters, all those who destroy ships for pleasure or profit. Ship restrictions according to the Junkers ID. Members of the Watch Abbot: Brother Benjen Prior: Brother Solomon Kane Chantre: Brother Alastor The mobile HQ of the Watch is a Prison Liner (Watch+Abbey.of.Nehwon). THE WATCH - coffee - 08-29-2010 So... religious Junkers then? PS. what is that "Book of The Watch"? THE WATCH - Evan_ - 08-29-2010 May you blessed by the One. THE WATCH - Malenka - 08-30-2010 So you go around and collect junk? THE WATCH - Coin - 08-30-2010 The order shall provide? do you mean: 1. The Watch shall provide.... 2. The Order shall provide.... 3. something else THE WATCH - marko06 - 09-03-2010 ' Wrote:So you go around and collect junk? They will use junk as a reason to enter you home and you ship and ask for some credits . THE WATCH - dr lameos - 09-04-2010 I approve of the idea, but I'd say the history/lore needs padding out. Religions such as this generally rely on a lot of holy texts. I'd be more intrigued if there was more of a backstory behind the One. THE WATCH - Corujao - 09-11-2010 The Watch is a mendicant order, so, when the order is mentioned we are talking about the Watch. THE WATCH - Corujao - 09-12-2010 ' Wrote:So... religious Junkers then? The Book of the Watch is a compilation of texts, prayers and prophecies dictated by the One to Abbot Benjen in his dreams. THE WATCH - Corujao - 09-12-2010 ' Wrote:They will use junk as a reason to enter you home and you ship and ask for some credits . The credits gained by selling junk are used to mantain the ships of the Watch and all the friars. The Watch also organises good will actions, giving essential suplies to those who need them. Any donations are, of course, welcome. |
