Race event - mjolnir - 12-05-2007
Canaria feber
Basic idea:
Starflier race across Sirius. All participants start fresh characters at Manhattan and compete to get to their destination as fast as possible.
Background
Reality show started by the CNN (Colony News Network) broadcasting corporation
RaceCourse
Manhattan to Gran Canaria
- or multiple legs, Canaria=>Fp9=>New Berlin.....
Rules
- new characters, no money transfer/help from other players (in different ships)
- shooting/ramming or other hindrance of opponents allowed (but it costs you time - while you shoot one all others are miles away)
- don't know if respawning should be allowed (maybe yes... otherwise nobody gets there), if so then you are free to dock along the way (but it costs you time)

Come with comments/suggestions.
One obvious is to move it to the PVP server... but it's limited to 25 players (I hope more would like to come), starting rep/money is different....
I think it could be made into a nice RP event too (someone help me please)

i lke the idea - but i think everyone is going to cruise. ( unless a team - if there are teams and not only individuals - hires thugs that do not try to win - but instead only try to take others out of the race )
i guess there ll be a traffic jam at jumpgates. so the first one that gets into the line of the jumpgate sequence will probaby win. ( unless he s shot down a by a rogue wolfhound there )

oops.. I though Starflier had a CD slot (Wasp cost 2k)... but it hasn't.. that's one less tactic
It's quite a long way to Gran Canaria....there are many alternative routes (I'm thinking of 3 very good atm).. and NPCs around are unpredictable... with Transports blocking the JGs... trade lanes disruptions...cruiser disruptions...
EDIT: There is only one JG that everyone must take: New York-California and there will be a queue there.. but that's a nice opportunity to shot some opponents.

you have to wait in a queue at a JH, too - just not that long, but it only allows a single ship to enter at a time.
imagine ..... : one big, bad terrorist ( maybe our only active terrorist dreygon ) fires a salvo of train disruptor into the waiting bunch of starfliers at the NY jumpgate ( hmm... allright, on second thought its non pvp - but just imagine it:D) .... due to the huge blast radius of like 1k and the damage 180 or so ... a few of them would cause a pretty firework lol. ( the alternative is that he finds himself zerged by a horde of 100 angry starfliers, that might even scare a VHF )

I wonder what will happen once the line forms. Chaos! Utter chaos! That will be a blast *pun intended*.:lol:I think you should put in a rule that doesn't allow anyone to buy new equipment. Make a 8500 entry fee to the race and an equipment check upon registering. The other day me and another player created new chars to Starflea PvP in Connecticut and we bought 2 MkII and a MkIII weapons (really, I don't remember the names). The flea goes boom pretty quick with those if you stand still. I'm guessing it won't be fun like that. Let them have the MkI weapons, but only that.

Now I posted this as a not finished idea...so no problem to move it either way...
Things that I would like to be different (compared with that race):
- it should be done in the existing universe with default (liberty citizen) reputation (that one before had players red to all)
- no teams (only teams)
Things that I'm open to discuss:
- route and single/multiple legs
- mounting weapons, I prefer to have them.. but only using the 8500 starting money
- shooting other players/trade lanes
- respawning

I would also like to know what admins think about it, there won't be any race without approval.

Think of Star Wars Pod races, but through different systems.
*ALL IDEAS OPEN FOR SUGGESTION*
-NO NPC if possible (if admins can remove them)or freelancer rep or neutral to all.
-Everyone not in the race can spectate and yes my shoot at rings and/or racers(racer must use one of there RP clan names....get the idea for the non racers).
- Set up some type of respawn (after each JH or JG)no attacking or slowing down the JH or JG only trade rings.
- Each racer must use the trade rings. (racers may use cruise disrup).
- Stop and dock as needed for racers (no attacks allowed in docking areas. If so the spectator will be removed from race and pay some type of fine.
- Have no idea how to determine the winner, 2nd, 3rd, and so on.

That's exactly what I didn't wanted :)
NPCs are what makes it funny... racers should have real liberty citizen reputations (because they were picked by the TV).
Spectators cause lag and get in the way.... they should race themselves.
Respawn is already build in FL (on bases where you docked), don't know if we should allowed killed players to rejoin... actually I'm more inclined to say no.
You can go whichever way you choose (JGs and TLs, JHs different systems) only start and exit point are set.
Stop and dock to repair as you want yes.
Winners will be easy to determine.. after docking order on Gran Canaria (must use the docking ring)
