Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Igiss - 10-15-2010 As you probably know, Discovery 4.86 is being developed at the moment, and as you well know, it's quite a bit behind the schedule. And we need help to complete the mod in a faster fashion. My post now will mostly copy Frozen's thread made a while back. We got no reply to that, and I chose to make the call more official. We are looking for people with specific skills and willingness to do the tasks listed below. The priorities should be clear: number one is high on top. 1. We are looking for hitboxers who know and are comfortable making hitboxes for ships/bases with sur splicing. Or people familiar with modelling and willing to learn about creating hitboxes. Our developers will provide help on where to get tutorials and such. The team already has people who can model things, but we got lots of models without hitboxes, meaning that all those models will never get into the mod before we hitbox them. That's why it's high on the priority list. 2. We are looking for 2, maybe 3 dedicated photoshop people who can create starspheres according to our pre-requisites set out, and can work together in a team. 3. We are looking for people who can help with doing animations for ships and structures. this is not as high priority, but it is something that will be a much desired skill. Animation work goes hand in glove with making CMPs and Sur spliced hitboxes, so you have to be able to work together with a basic knowledge of how the entire thing works. 4. We are looking for people with skills in creating and customizing ALE effects for special effects, lights, engine effects, etc. preferably people who have done some sort of ALE effect work before and can work in a team, so we can get this aspect covered and done as well. Please note that we are NOT looking for modellers and NOT looking for more ship models. In terms of modelling, we are only looking for station builders who CAN create hitboxes. Without skills to create hitboxes, or willingness to learn as soon as possible, you will not be able to help us. If you are willing to take over any of those jobs (or several combined), please mail me at igissmail@gmail.com. You can also reply in this thread. Frozen (frozenballs) should be able to help in case you have a technical question. Thank you. Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - MarioR - 10-15-2010 Sorry! I don't understand a bit of computers! Take care and good luck :-) Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Skullz - 10-15-2010 Good Evening I have been doing some small modelling project's for simcity 4 deluxe, and am about to start planning a long project for Discovery. I'll like to put my name down for the hit boxes. i am willing to learn how to do it, and I feel that it will give me a good chance to get some very good exprience before I do a big modelling project. By seeing how they are brought together and being made in to a usable ship ingame which will be for me a great way to learn. Kind Regards Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Jinx - 10-15-2010 for those that like to learn .sur ( hitboxes ) here is a link from the starport - its a tutorial about splicing ( i suppose it works ) http://forums.seriouszone.com/showthread.p...ig-ships-My-Way Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - AeternusDoleo - 10-15-2010 I can attempt to assist... provided real life won't hammer me any harder. Did some model fixing for Neverwinter Nights, including animations in 3DSMax... if this is similar I can probably help out. I however will need to get some pointers and (easy) assignments. Someone needs to be in charge for things to move ahead. Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Skullz - 10-15-2010 I have checked the link given by Jinx I've found it rather expressive, but not my style of step by step instructions in a sense of the word. If someone has the time and is prepared to help me work on a dumby together explaining each, i should be able to get it using that tutorial. The only problem would be of getting a few downloads which in the past I have struggled to find. However here is a list of what I have got currently Gmax (modelling work) Milkshape HardCMP If you can contact me on pm or over skype for the extra needed downloads and the help you can give me in doing a dummy run, or even doing one that needs to be done with yourself (whom ever it may be) providing supervision that will be greatly appreciated. For times I am online tend to be from midday GMT to Midnight GMT Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Luis - 10-16-2010 I have said a million times that I would love to help in the dev team. Though, since I cannot hitbox 'properly' yet and seeing that the Starport Tutorial is a bit to wordy and confusing to understand - I am tired of giving it a 10th try. I spent 1 whole entire day on re-reading the tutorial over and over again and I STILL have mistakes. Seriously, someone please re-word the tutorial, (like baby steps - since it's easier for me to grasp and understand the mistakes I have made), a lot more PLEASE! @Igiss -- I will send you a message, mate.;) Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Rommie - 10-16-2010 I won't be able to help because school is hammering me atm, but what helped me to understand .sur's were the tutorial Dusty posted in here. Post #3 is what got me through. It's visual, making the whole learning process a lot easier. Again, I'm sorry I can't help any better. Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - Inspecta06 - 10-16-2010 Just one question. Does any of the things on the to-do list require PYTHON programming? Looking for developers: creating hitboxes, starspheres, animations, and effects - BrotherBear - 10-16-2010 I'll help. I haven't actually made a hitbox, nor do I have experience, but I have all the programs needed installed. I'm also good in photoshop, and have that installed too. I made this in photoshop for an assignment for college. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/5393512/Games%20cover.jpg First time using photoshop, and it came out quite well. Just give me a shout if you want me to do anything. |
