Norton/McAfee + Vista with Freelancer - DBoy1612 - 12-07-2007 Right! I want to write a tutorial on how to get Freelancer to run on Vista while you have Norton or McAfee installed on your system. Why Norton or McAfee? Because those are the two Anti Virus shields I know that cause problems on a Vista computer. Now, I've learned how to get Freelancer and the mod running on the computer no problem. I've managed to get as far as seeing the server on the FL Server list. But, I can't connect. I've turned off Windows Firewall, Windows Defender, and (in this case) Norton. But, no luck. My guess is Norton is being... Well, it's being Norton and won't fully turn itself off. Uninstalling Norton will fix the problem, that I know of. But I want to find a way to be able to connect to servers without having to do that. There are a lot of users on these forums that use Vista with either Norton or McAfee, if any of you could help fill me in on what I'm missing I'd greatly appreciate it. I can't test any of it myself as I don't own a Vista system, I'm just trying to get as much information I can from testing it with someone through Skype. Thanks, -DBoy Norton/McAfee + Vista with Freelancer - trekster - 12-07-2007 More to come dboy but Norton has a port watcher that looks at ports even if its closed.(i switched my AV) Multiplayer games Tshoot article http://support.microsoft.com/kb/819836/ Halo uses same ports as freelancer http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829473/en-...29&sid=1507 Articles About Freelancer http://support.microsoft.com/freelancerfaq I hope some of this helps Norton/McAfee + Vista with Freelancer - Cruise - 12-07-2007 I know it no help I tried for the best part of a week. But thanks for your first post, I'll look in to it. Norton/McAfee + Vista with Freelancer - Dopamino - 12-08-2007 Only use Norton and McAfee if you absolutely have to, ex. company policy, school-owned computer, etc. Otherwise, stay farrrrr away. Norton almost killed my computer, literally. You could smell the plastic and silicon getting hot. Anyway, another nice tutorial for the less fortunate among us by DBoy!
