Freeport info inconsistency - LA-384 - 11-21-2010 I was browsing the wiki for information on my new character biography, and i came across a little inconsistency regarding to freeport 1 and freeport 2. The info on freeport 1 states that it's the first freeport ever constructed "as the name clearly states", however freeport 2 was build/founded roughly 88 years earlier. At least according to both the wiki and the infocard. The infocard of freeport 1 doesn't state that it's the first freeport ever. http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?title=Freeport_1 http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?title=Freeport_2 It's just small thing. Other than that, the information on the wiki is awesome. Never expected to learn so much about sirius' history. Freeport info inconsistency - n00bl3t - 11-21-2010 Most of us try to skate over that. For now, accept the explanation that Freeport 2 did not identify themselves as Zoners until they interacted with Freeport 1 and officially labeled themselves Zoners. Freeport info inconsistency - Diabolicus - 11-21-2010 Freeport 1 was built by the Zoners. Freeport 2 was an abandonned station. Could explain why. Perhaps back then they didn't have the name of ''Freeports'' and that they were later named as such. Freeport info inconsistency - DAnvilFan - 11-21-2010 The wiki is wrong. That is the explanation. If you read the original Freelancer infocards, the year of Freeport 1's discovery is never specified. Freeport info inconsistency - Alex. - 11-21-2010 Freeport 1 was founded by a group of Zoners over sixty years ago. It was the first station of its kind to be declared open to all, and it still provides a place for commerce and Food sales to everyone, regardless of legal status. ids_info # 65782 [InfoCards.dll] That's about as close to a date we're going to get from the infocards I think... So yeah, FP1 article is wrong. http://discoveryfl.com/wiki/index.php?titl...amp;oldid=16736 I'm going to ask C where he got the information from before changing anything though. Freeport info inconsistency - DAnvilFan - 11-21-2010 The wiki writers assumed "over 60 years ago" meant "a number of years that's close to 60." Fact of the matter is that we have no idea when FP1 was built other than before 740 AS. Freeport 2 was founded in 650 AS, and with FP1 being the first it must mean that it was found even before 650. Now what's really going to tickle your fancy is that Ames Research Station was settled by Zoners soon after it opened. Ames opened in 550 AS. Which means that the Zoner movement is well over 200 years old. But there's more. While Zoners settled Ames Research Station they didn't take over operations until the employees of the station were layed off. The employees of the station were layed off when 680 AS rolled around and the Ion Storm didn't come through. Can anyone guess the location of the mysterious Freeport 3 now? I'll give you a hint. Freeport 1: Founded before Freeport 2. Freeport 2: 650 AS Ames Research: 680 AS Well whayu know. ' Wrote:Most of us try to skate over that. You can take this theory if you stretch it very wide but it's not neccessary. A bar infocard states that Hamburg and Texas settlers rebuilt the station after settlement and named it Freeport 2. The wording is pretty straight forward. You can interpret that they hung around the station for 90 years before naming it Freeport 2. That's a hell of a long time. What's a lot easier is to realize that Freeport 1's year of establishment is never specified. Freeport info inconsistency - Alex. - 11-21-2010 Well it seems that it was an assumption based on it's naming. Changed it now. Freeport info inconsistency - DAnvilFan - 11-22-2010 Quote:It was constructed over 60 years ago, after Freeport 2, The date of creation for either Freeports is never disclosed. Until the development team issues an infocard which becomes Discovery cannon, I'm going to ask that you simply use the original, vanilla infocard for the Freeport 1 description of the wiki. |
