Lan server connection problems - crm - 12-07-2010 Hi all, I've been lurking for a while so apologies that my first post is one asking for help. I've installed a LAN server of freelancer running the dicovery via the mod manager. Other users can see the server listed and when they click it they are asked for the login password. However it then hangs there and eventually says "I'm sorry, but a connecction could not be established to that server. This is usually caused by a server going offline when you attempt to connect to it. It may also be caused by Internet problems. Please try again later." I'm stumped, it's not the firewall, the program is running in xp compatibility mode, the prgoram is running as administrator, the server is running on windows 7 and the client on windows vista. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance for any help. crm Lan server connection problems - MarvinCZ - 12-09-2010 I suggest you post this in the Help Requests section: http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showforum=42 This part is frequented much less and with different intentions. I also have one additional question: Is the client able to connect to other servers? Lan server connection problems - AeternusDoleo - 12-09-2010 Most likely cause: Some kind of personal firewall software running on the PC running the server. Check the Windows firewall and any/all antivirus and internet security software on it. Lan server connection problems - Capt. Henry Morgan - 12-09-2010 Hmm... On Windows 7? When you see your server in game, is the IP a normal number, or an odd looking series of hex numbers? If it's that, then IPv6 is your problem. I wrote a short tutorial a while back on making FLServer work in Windows 7. You can check it out here. If that's not it, then I suggest doing what MarvinCZ suggested and posting in the help section. Lan server connection problems - crm - 12-09-2010 Fixed it, it was the ipv6 probem. Cheers all. |
