Artisan Farmers Alliance [AFA] - Ascendancy - 12-27-2007

The Artisan Farmers Alliance
Faction History (The Past) -
Quote:Kyushu is often referred to as the "Samura" company planet within Kusari, as so many of its inhabitants depend on Samura's continued largess. As part of an effort to stimulate rice production on Kyushu, Samura gradually organized the Kyushu farmers into cooperatives that would buy fertilizer and customized seeds from their laboratories in New Tokyo. Consumers paid exorbitant amounts for the rice produced, which everyone swore was much higher quality than that produced in any other part of Kusari, and thus worth the premium price it fetched in Samura's Tokyo supermarkets.

With the eventual introduction of Trade Lanes, Kusari farmers were opened to competition to the rest of the Sirius Sector. They lobbied the government heavily, financed with Samura money, which had the most to lose from cheap foreign competitors. The government acquiesced for several centuries, leading to astronomical Kusari food prices. Eventually, under pressure from the Liberty government, Kusari reopened the agricultural imports market, despite intense lobbying by Samura.

Synth Foods moved in and became an overnight success, opening franchises in the urban areas of Honshu and New Tokyo. Demand for expensive Kyushu food dropped, and many independent farmers were forced out of business. Feeling betrayed, some of the farmers proceeded to organize the Farmers' Alliance, a militant group that lobbies for "farmers' rights" -- which include such things as government subsidies and restrictions on the sale of foreign food in Kusari. In fact, the Farmers Alliance is generally opposed to foreign influence of any kind, particularly the Trade Lanes that have so damaged their livelihoods.

The general population ignores the Farmers Alliance for the most part, though they do have some support among older Kusari citizens. In reality the Farmers Alliance is little more than a puppet of Samura, who wishes to return to its food and trade monopoly days. Samura uses them for much of its dirty work, attacking foreign shippers, Synth Foods, and even Kishiro on occasion. The Farmers Alliance likes the Hogosha, as they represent the traditional "criminals" that fit in with society. They abhor the Golden Chrysanthemums and their disgusting drug habit. The Blood Dragons are also viewed with suspicion, since whatever Samura says is the truth.

Today - The Farmers Alliance has still little support among general the Kusari population today, but one man -- Masaharu Morimoto -- wishes to change that. He and his chosen diplomat, Ze'ev Barak, have formed a special organization, the AFA, or known as the Artisan Farmers Alliance, to ensure that the food and trade monopoly Samura had comes back and that all farmers of Kyushu be returned to their faithful way of life. The two of them call upon all frustrated farmers of Kusari to rise up and oppose the poison that Synth Foods have been making for years.

Also, there have been rumours that Hakita Toho has a large lead for governor of Kyushu over his rival, Hitoshi Sasaki. Hakita is a respected member in the Farmers Alliance, which would strengthen the AFA's power within that system. These rumours are still just that, rumours.

The Artisan Farmers Alliance offers this:
  • $7,000,000 start up bonus to purchase an Eagle Very Heavy Fighter
  • A pair of codenames from our weapons bank, the Fallowed Ground
  • Lots of RP fun
  • And well, whatever else we can manage to do within RP reasoning...
Restrictions:
  • All fighters must have at least a pair of "Vulture 4" Neutron Cannons. They are cheap, and sold on Kagoshima Depot. This is to ensure we're at least following the NPCs in some sort of way.
  • Nomad weaponry and equipment are prohibited. We would not venture out so far as to retrieve experimental weaponry.
  • All other weapons would be limited to what would be available to us. This does include Gaian and Hogosha weapons due to our alliance with them. Corsair weapons will need approval. All other weapons are subject to approval by me or Zelot.
  • Other ships beyond the Eagle will need approval and need RP reasoning to own one. This is subject to change as ongoing RP may allow us to have IMG Gunboats. Civilian Bombers will be allowed at this time.
The AFA is now recruiting. Either post here, or send me a PM. Zelot controls the Fallowed Ground and would be more than happy to set up a ship for you.

(This is my first time ever of setting up a faction, so any criticism is welcome. I'll do what I can to make things right if they're wrong.)

Artisan Farmers Alliance [AFA] - Zelot - 12-30-2007

just a little bump

Artisan Farmers Alliance [AFA] - SimonBlack - 12-30-2007

Are you official or unofficial ones? Im already in an unifficial clan. Is it allowed to join another clan if Im in one already?

Sorry for the off RP.

Artisan Farmers Alliance [AFA] - Ascendancy - 12-30-2007

The faction is "official", we have approval but not the 5 members needed. You can be in more than one official faction on the server, but no single character can belong to more than one. So if you made a separate character, then you'd be fine.
