Starting Systems - NomadRevenge - 01-31-2011

I was reading some comments about liberty being to crowded, largly due to it being the starting system. I thought, what if, when you started your character you get a choice of where to start as soon as you hit the: create new Char button. I know that you can change where you start with a server command but most new people don't know anything about this.
If this idea isnt plausible, how about every new character starts in a random main house system (New York or Pensylvania, New Berlin, New London, New Tokyo). This was jus a thought I had and wondered what people think.

I'm all of it! Reduces the ammount of newbies in one place. I have nothing against them, we all were one, they need to learn and I'll gladly help them. But, please, don't make them "spawn" in the same place, leads to disaster Q_Q

I'm not sure if the starting system has anything to do with it. Most new people have the urge to go out and explore the surrounding systems, especially the ones who have never played Discovery before. They want to see what has been added to Freelancer. For some reason, they all gravitate back to Liberty. Wish I knew why. It just seems to be one of those weird phenomenons just doesn't make any sense.

I belive i've seen multiple threads like those...

So i suggest it again that new players should start in Coronado, Barrier gate station.

With the same restarts like we have now.

Or the new players start at Bastille and they get immideatly notified about the Discoverygc webpage and they visit that first and read the rules and somewhere in the rules it states that you may use restarts to get out from Bastille.

And also...the same restarts like we have now.

An additional "default" restart for a starflier on Erie with default rep would be required.

Dodike installs the mod. Launches the game. Game is not working. Dodike is wondering. Dodike might find the restart command or delete the mod.

"For some reason, they all gravitate back to Liberty." - connected with - "I was reading some comments about liberty being to crowded" - they all go where is crowded, no one want's to be alone.

"Remove the engines from starflyers.

- WIN

Let them all spawn in Gallia.

Ouch...

Especially if they have a default rep that's hostile to the GRN...

OUCH!

The reason that new players start at this point (Pennsylvania) is Helium !!
Minig and selling Helium is the fastest way to earn money at the beginning.

You can also easily show new players how to mine minerals.

Let's leave it like it is now
