Touching the memories of the Slomon K'Hara - Akura - 02-21-2011

Sequoia Hart removed her flight helmet, allowing her long brown hair to flow out onto her shoulders, turning her head, she observed her surroundings. The hanger bay was strange, it's walls and details being like ancient Kusari design, Blood Dragon design most likely, like the structure of the cruiser.

Just prior, Sequoia had flown her Black Dragon towards the lone Kagutsuchi, it's name ringing in her head without her ever being told. 'Sahaquiel', a kind and welcoming ship, though Sequoia didn't know why these feelings arose.

A couple of young Kusari men made their way over, they couldn't have been older than eighteen, bowing slightly to Sequoia before gesturing for her to follow. They lead her out of the small Hanger, and into a elevator, which climbed at least three decks before stopping. They indicated for her to leave the elevator, and closed the door behind her, leaving her alone in her new surroundings.

This new room was cosier than the rest of the ship, more like a living quarters than a part of a ship. From another set of doors, a familiar figure entered the room. Sequoia recognised the face of the illusive 'Masako', a young, Kusari woman, with deadly straight black hair and eyes that could pierce bodyarmour.

"Konnichiwa, Miss Hart, please, sit" Masako gestured to a small, Japanese-style table in the middle of the room, short and with small cushions instead of chairs.

"Thank you" Sequoia mumbled, a little nervous in the presence of the intimidating Masako,

"Have some tea. For this, you will need to be relaxed" Masako instructed, sitting down opposite Sequoia.

Sequoia did a subtle nod and, reminding herself that norms of behaviour exist no matter if you feel yourself a deer covered by hunter, unshoed her feet before stepping forward and making herself as comfortable as it was possible in that situation.

"You need to relax", Sequoia replayed Misako's words in mind, trying to follow that advice while Masako carefully filled her bowl with the hot fragrant drink. While the whole action hardly looked formally enough to be a traditional tea ceremony, the process full of imperceptible details still evoked an special atmosphere and Sequoia hadn't noticed how she concentrated on the gyre of leafs in the bowl.

The place itself, the taste of tea and Masako, closely watching her, gave Sequoia a feeling of a certain surrealism of all the things happening, but the istructiuon appeared to be useful.

"I must thank you for inviting me here, Masako-san", she adressed to Masaka with a a certain awkwardness in her voice, "I doubt that many people were favoured with an invitation to this place and meeting you."

Masako smiled, a strange gesture as before, her facial expression hadn't changed from general apathy, almost like she'd practiced it a million times and managed to fake it perfectly.

"No, you would be one of the first humans not working for us to see the inside of this ship" she sipped her own tea, her face returning to it's fairly blank and apathetic state, "Are you ready? There is no turning back after this point, you cannot un-learn what we show you"

"Yes, I am ready" Sequoia nodded, a little trace of concern in her voice,

"Very well, you must be comfortable and relaxed, straighten your back, and close your eyes" Masako spoke, Sequoia gave her a curious and suspitious look, Masako nodded, confirming that all was okay. "Now, you must ignore all distractions, your mind must be clear and lucid, listening only to my voice" Sequoia obeyed, "Now steady your breathing, your mind must not become sluggish or sleepy" Sequoia obeyed, allowing her body and mind to relax completely, "You must focus on breathing in and out through your nostils, concentrating on the air entering and leaving your body, but do not try to control it"

The sound of Masako's voice slowed, sounding more and more distant with each breath, Sequoia felt warm, and numb, but she couldn't feel her body anymore...

She saw lights, darkness and stars, she could see Nomads, they were confused, fresh, curious. They floated amongst the stars, dipping in and out of nebulae and rifts in space, their young bodies in large numbers.

Sequoia wasn't watching them, she wasn't following them, she was one of them. Her mind was at one with the Nomad, seeing as it saw, feeling as it felt. The feelings of curiousity came to her, and she became more and more fascinated with the stars and their inhabitants.

The feeling of joy and interest flooded her, and overwhelming feeling, in this lucid memory, everything seemed more real, more potent and amazing. She saw beyond the realms of human-explored space, she saw stunning formations in space, deep into the Nomad Worlds, beyond where any man had ever been.

The memory seemed to last forever, until a new feeling came across her, a feeling of curiosity, but also caution, the group of Nomads had come across something unnatural, something unexpected and unwelcome, she felt the emotions of them all, the worry and panic as the world they had established in their minds was tarnished with a strange formation of matter.

They were seeing the wreck of a human vessel, desolate and cold as the crew had ejected and left long ago, it's mass seemingly left after a catastropic and unavoidable accident within the rocks of the edge worlds.

The Nomads slowly withdrew, retreating back into the worlds from which they came, ready to embrace a new point of view on the Universe they had come to wake up to.

She saw time beyond this point, centuries passing like old memories, far beyond the newborn Nomads, she saw ships, ship, many ships, they were angry, she could feel the fear in the Nomads, they were scared of the human vessels, scattering and swooping to avoid contact.

It was too late, they were surrounded and ambushed, there was pain, so much pain, fire and energy cutting space and making contact with both sides, so much hate and pain. There was anger, Sequoia saw a face, a human, he was viewed with fear and disdain, a name, it's echoing sound ringing in her ears, through many voices, 'Edison Trent'.

There was a battle, a panic, the Nomads were trying to protect themselves, they were trying to survive, so much fear and pain in the air, all other methods exhausted, they were forced into a corner. They had to obtain the key, a priceless artifact, something that was vital to their survival. Without it, in the hands of the enemy, they would most certainly die, lost within the eternal pain, they reached out...

It was too late, they were too late, there was a flash, so much pain, excruciating beyond imagination. The distress was too intense, Sequoia wanted it to stop, it was horrible, so much death. She saw the Nomads, by the millions, being cast into the void, forever lost in eternal torment, she tried to scream by no sound left her, she had no body, no method of escape, so much death, she couldn't feel anything more, just endless agony burning wherever there was feeling...

Sequoia finally screamed, the images of death and feelings of pain leaving her, she felt cold, and a sense of falling before her body hit the carpet of Sahaquiel's lounge deck. Her body was covered in a cold sweat and she was shivering all over, the intense information running through her mind was too much to bear.

She raised her hand to wipe away some of the sweat on her top lip, seeing on her hand that it was infact blood, from a small nosebleed she had gotten.

"I'm... I'm sorry, it's difficult, to sort through centuries of information and share it... We are not used to this amount of information being slowly run through the mind of a human... it's very hard to control..." Masako spoke, her breathing heavy, her own skin covered in the same kind of cold sweat as Sequoia, she looked a little tired, but otherwise fine, "Are you alright?"

"Y-yes" Sequoia spoke, her voice weak and her throat dry,

"I can try again, slower and more controlled this time, if it is what you wish" Masako spoke, slowing her breathing...

Sequoia felt sick. That uncountable number of years passsed in her mind in seconds, maybe, minutes, probably, hours - she lost track of time - and all she saw, all she hear, all she felt echoed in her temples and stuck in her throat, pushed by her stomach. Hardly balancing herself, she sat straight, trying to collect her thoughts and cope with giddiness.

"Of course", she answered breifly.

The new layer of her knowledge of the universe slowly and roughly took its place in her memories, without any lubricant of metaphors and mercilessly to her doubts and attempts to smooth it. Sequoia may want to deny what she saw, but that dream was too real.

She made another deep breath and fixed her eyes on Masaka.

"I want to continue. I can stand that and... I want to stand that. I got too many questions not enough answers for them."

She had much more 'why', 'how' and 'but' in mind, but she couldn't put them into words. And she got a strong feeling that words won't be enough to express that.

Masako nodded, "Close your eyes once more, focus on your breathing. In and out of your nostrils, focus on the sensation of the air, rather than trying to control it"

Sequoia followed the instructions, her body entering a more relaxed state. Her mind left her conscious state once more, drifting into memories that Masako provided her...

She saw the Nomads once again, exploring the edges of systems, searching for something. Their minds were never at ease, constantly looking, constantly studying their surroundings. She saw the human wreck once more, Sequoia recognised it as one of the sister ships of the great Bretonia, written across the side of the hull was it's name, the great sleeper ship in an eternal slumber, it's purpose served.

There was a strange jolt, thoughts of others crept into the minds of those she saw, awakening. She could see as they did, a group of men and women, scientists perhaps, studying and probing the Nomads as they woke, their minds reaching out to connect with their brethren beyond the Edge Worlds.

Sequoia could hear german, these were Rheinland researchers, she could feel the panic, these Nomads had never encountered humans before, they were confused and desperate, she saw Rheinland soldiers with guns, their violence spreading through the labs to try and contain the breach. Their attempts were in vain, as the station quickly fell quiet again, emotions subsiding to comfort and relief...

They walk amongst humanity now, watching and learning, planning and thinking. Their minds are never at rest, they seek something, an important item. There were many, many that could harm, but one in particular was a danger to them. Sequoia saw fragments, memories and images of many Wild thrown before her in split seconds, moving about unseen and unheard in day to day life.

Her thoughts were now flooded with a lingering feeling of anger, more humans were met, unwelcomed guests in the Edge Worlds, a small group of humans seeking to hurt the Nomads. They fight and avoid, stay back and stay away, strike when unseen, they must not stop the Nomads, their plans must not succeed. Sequoia could see them, the Order in the Omicrons, their ships meeting Nomad vessels with hostility, raining down fire on their new foes.

The Nomads sought it out though, a diamond amongst pebbles, it had been removed, lost amongst the populace. Being lost to the populace, over vast distances. But luck, by impossible odds, the artifact had been spotted. Sequoia was in the Sigmas, she knew what was on the station, because the Nomads knew, a powerful artifact capable of an immense amount of pain to the Nomads.

She saw the Nomads launch their attack of desperation. The attack at Freeport 7 was quick, their vessels swiftly returning to the Edge Worlds. Their work was in vain though, as the artifact had been spotted within Liberty. Sequoia saw faces, many faces, but one was singled out. The marked man was now in the sights of the Nomads, she saw his face a thousand times...

They searched many planets, in many cities, searching for the marked man, a thief. Many like him, but only one holds what they wanted, Sequoia could feel the desire to have it returned, burning and eating away at her. Pulling strings, they manipulated the bureaucracy of humanity to outlaw that which they sought.

It had passed hands, now in the grasp of one Edison Trent, a Bretonian-born Freelancer. They sought him out, Trent and his former employer, an LSF operative by the name of Jun'ko Zane, were missing, wanted by the Liberty government for illegally dealing in artifacts.

Sequoia saw days of actions, carried out all over Sirius, merged together and blended to show her their desperate struggle to obtain the artifact. They avoided the Nomad's forces on many occasion, until an unexpected attack on a Nomad-controlled installation in Tohoku.

She saw hundreds of Blood Dragons and infected Kusari forces, clashing in a fierce battle around Tekagi's Arch. Edison Trent, Sequoia could see him now, closer more than ever before, he and a Blood Dragon known as Ozu, right before Governer Tekagi.

There was a chance to take the Artifact, their joy and relief was felt, however brief. A borderworlds ship arrived, and Trent was just out of reach. The Blood Dragon, Ozu, triggered an explosion within Tekagi's Arch, as Trent and Hakkera evaded the Nomads once more. This action by Ozu sent ripples of pain and anger throughout the Nomads, Sequoia could feel it, she could sense the unrest, the uncertainty. She could feel their fear, that the Proteus Tome was now also lost to them...
