Advice on tag / ID - Fridan - 01-15-2008 First off, hello. I joined not all that long ago, then got a new computer and the new and exciting things I could now run distracted me, but I'm back! So, let me run this by you. I had an idea for a character, possibly some form of pirate but I'm not dead set on that yet. The fundamental idea is of the dashing rogue, an daring space adventurer. A complete Clich?, with teeth that glint in the sun. My problem then, is finding a faction tag and I.D. that sits with this character. Is there a pirate faction that suits the man that crys "Stand and deliver!" Or a lawful faction that has some leeway for roguish behaviour (and no, not liberty rogues :P) It seems to me that the best option is the Freelancer ID, but I'm unsure if that rules out pirating, which would be a shame, since I quite like the idea of space highwayman, but if there is no better alternative you folks can suggest, it's looking like that's the way I'll go. Advice on tag / ID - bluntpencil2001 - 01-15-2008 Well, I've been planning on getting more active as my QCP shortly. We're Bretonian Armed Forces that, ahem, 'disrupt trade' in Kusari. That means we rob the buggers. Oh, in case I wasn't obvious, that means if you want to join, you're in. Advice on tag / ID - RingoW - 01-15-2008 Give the Junkers a try. They have actually the best position for doing good and bad and i guess they could need a "Doubtful Hero". They are a kind of dirty, while having a kind of pride at the same time. Respectful AoM Advice on tag / ID - Unseelie - 01-15-2008 Gaian.... See, Gaians are mainly lower nobles of Bretonia, bored and looking for a cause, excellent for the dashing hero. Go up against the Big Evil of the BMM, piss of the cops, and narrowly avoid the big guns. Advice on tag / ID - RingoW - 01-15-2008 @ Unselie: NLH means Natures Last Hope for a reason. They are not "Heroes Last Hope":P Hell, why do i write this I have no junker char and get no payment for recruiting. Respectful AoM Advice on tag / ID - Fridan - 01-15-2008 Junkers is an interesting one I hadn't thought of. Although the association with junk is a little off, but maybe that's just my noobish perception. I have to confess to not knowing a huge amount about Gaians, but the nobleman aspect certainly fits well. I'll have to do some research. Thanks for the kind offer blunt, but I just can't see this chap working for a military/house faction, be they badass or otherwise :P Advice on tag / ID - SimonBlack - 01-15-2008 What about Red Hessians, may I offer [RHA]? Revolution fighters of some sort and pirates at the same time. Advice on tag / ID - Jinx - 01-15-2008 wouldn t say they are noblemen - gaians descent from scientists that were unhappy with the way the resources were dealt with, especially gaia of course. so they originate from rather academic people - but "nowadays" they are often petty criminals, too, that use the cause of gaians for to make their piracy look better. of course there s still the determined gaian out there ( usually the player chars ) - but gaians are quite poorly supported - so they have to pirate for their living, they have allies that don t care too much for them ( corsairs wouldn t even give them ships ) - but the kusari are their hope right now. regarding to rumor, they have a good relationship to the kusari way - and tend to "assist" the kusari as in ways possible to them. Advice on tag / ID - Hunter-Seeker - 01-16-2008 I assume you're referring to a character similar to Zorro or the swashbuckler kit from Baldur's Gate 2. In that case if your character has certain political beliefs than he can join a faction with similar beliefs(such as the factions already mentioned). You could also get a freelancer ID and, if you want to dwell mainly on the outer systems, a Zoner tag, and that way remain truly independant. There's definitely some flexibility if you can think up a good backstory. Advice on tag / ID - Virus - 01-16-2008 Better than Freelancer is probably the Mercenary ID. Leaves just about anything open to you with limits only in that you can't have anything bigger than a gunboat. (Who needs one anyway?) |
