If the mining mod were to be permanently disabled - Tomtomrawr - 03-03-2011

This is not a discussion thread. You're not going to bitch in this thread with "it's only trial stop whining". This thread is a hypothetical question and should be treated as such. Answer the question, possibly comment on what others lose in a civilised manner. Deviate from this and I'll just ask a mod to lock the thread and nothing will have been achieved.

If the mining mod were to be permanently disabled, what would you lose?

I would lose:
  • Roger Claymore. His whole role-play is based on pirating miners.
  • Adam Patterson. His whole role-play is based on defending BMM and fighting against IMG, both mining groups.
  • Gerald Croft. My BMM Basalt miner. There'd be no point sitting in a barren field shooting rocks without even earning any money.
  • Roger's Rocs'. This group's key objective is to pirate miners and ore haulers. Without that there's no point in keeping the group active.
So, I ask the question again: If the mining mod were to be permanently disabled, what would you lose?

My 10 greatest RP actions with the Kruger|Kaufbeuren and 500 pointless PVP battles.

I would lose :
  • My indie BMM Miner, but I hardly used it anyway.
  • The possibility to regularly hit Gold Ore haulers on my pirate character. That would significantly cut my earnings, but can be easily replaced by more smuggling.
  • A probable drop in the activity of BMM, which is the archenemy of 2 of my factions.
  • A probable drop of the activity in Dublin, which is one of the main activity system for my Gaian character.
So, to sum up : Less piracy targets, a bit less activity.
All in all, nothing insuperable.

Almost all my characters have something to do with mining, most of them are based in Rheinland. Besides RM (Liberty War), I think a lot of Rheinland's activity was due to mining in some form or another. Of course I will adapt, but I don't have to be happy about it ...

And simply switching RP is disheartening to say the least, RP in my opinion is about immersion. You immerse yourself in this role and this world that players have built with their time. People get attached to their characters,or at least I do.

I would lose all my IMG and BMM chars, as well ad Justin Glunt, member of Roger's Rocs.

I'd lose

My Pride
My Self-Esteem
My Sense of Reality

ie: "Now it's going to be nearly impossible for me to make any money for me to do anything in this game."
