Question about bounties - VoluptaBox - 03-18-2011

Mhmm...I have recently registered the CrossBones on the Molly bounty board, but then I realised that, on the id, it doesn't state that we can collect bounties. It doesn't state that we cannot either. We use pirate ids. This means that I can't collect?

What about this scenario: I am already hostile with the BAF, bounty or no bounty. Say that they attack me an I kill one. Can I collect the bounty the Mollies placed on him? I mean, it's not like I go around collecting bounties, like a merc would do. I just happened to kill someone, and someone else is paying for that someone's death. Why shouldn't I collect the moneys?

Here's my take, which I think holds some weight.

The Merc/FL IDs can go after anyone so long as their rep is right and there's a bounty on the target's head.

Any other ID can be paid for scoring a kill, but only so long as the kill is one which would be considered acceptable under normal circumstances.

I have a related question. As an LPI IDed fighter, what interaction do I have with bountied parties?

According to http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=63882 :
"collecting bounties from enemies of Liberty on LPI, LN, LSF or other Liberty corporations marks you as unable to collect"

Does that mean that I can attack/kill the person in accordance with the bounty, but just can't collect the reward (it is, after all, my job as a police officer, so getting paid per occurrence doesn't make sense)? Or can I not act on the bounties at all? Or does it not matter that there's a bounty on (for example) Rogues, since I'm allowed to hunt Rogues anyway as an LPI?

Not much interaction at all.

You're an LPI, so you're expected to enforce the Laws of Liberty. Thus, under those laws, you are free to dispense justice in accordance with those laws, without worrying about the bounty board. Or being able to collect upon that same bounty board, either.

One of the things I make sure and do when I'm flying either my LPI or my LN characters is that I open up those laws, so that I can refer to them when I run across a miscreant.

I've claimed a bounty or two with Pirate ID, but have never 'hunted' with that ID.

My personal opinion over pirate ID is, it wouldn't make sense for a pirate InRp, to fly around chasing targets just to get paid on a board, that's what mercs do. But if he accidentally runs into a bountied target who refuses to pay, well... Why shouldn't he claim it on the board to make a profit even from the dead trader/miner/whatever?

I mean, it just looks kinda wrong to me to see a pirate hunting for bounties, but if it's a "I have a gun, you have a bounty, you'll pay me double or I'll just claim that one!" situation it's just fine in my book.

You have to register before you claim.
Registering makes you an active hunter.
Thus, you cannot do it with Pirate ID.
I am sorry, but I don't want OG to be part of this confusing stuff.

To be honest, I instead think it'd make perfect sense for pirates to hunt down people with large bounties over them.

I'd not mind seeing other Rogues attacking my Rogue if I'd be bountied well. And it doesn't matter at all by whom.
