**** INCOMING TRANSMISSION ****

This is not a submission for a new ship but a request for a ship review.

I currently retain an IMG ZEPHER in Tau 23 and often am in conflict with Outcasts.

Question: when was the last time someone reviewed the Battleship Stats as we IMG are constantly outgunned (IMG 14x vs Sarsis x15 and Juggernaught x16), out armoured (IMG 600k vs Sarsis 820k and Juggernaught 950k) and out manovered IMG turns slower than the bigger Outcast ships (well it seems tat way).

What chance is there that IMG vs Outcast ships could be rebalanced:
  • either manoverbility is increased for the smaller IMG craft
  • or guns are more balanced/equal to power consumption
  • or hulls are better armoured for IMG or less for Outcasts ships
It is my feeling that the setup may not be correct and maybe the powers that be might look kindly on us IMG since our Mining Ore field are all messed up and constantly empty and as a result we IMG are losing members ground against the Outcasts...

You take a duck tape, go in circles around IMG battleship and that should do it. Works for us Xenos. On a serious note take a fighter or bomber, IMG battleship is not a Heavy Battleship while on the other hand Sarissa and OC Dread are, so going against them head on is not a smart idea.

The Zephyr is either going to be replaced, or cease to exist alltogether come 4.86. Your concerns are already being handled.:)

Also: It's a carrier, not a battleship. Not meant to go toe to toe with a dread.

[Edit] If you stay >3KM range and strafe up and down, you should win the mortar pong contest. Trick is to DODGE the enemy mortars.

You're a smaller battleship. Stay at range from the enemy BSs.

You can dodge better, hence the smaller armor value. And the 1 gun difference between you and the Sarissa isn't much.

zephyr is easy to kill, either use mortar, or BS missiles... that ship is so small that missiles ACTUALLY work

The IMG carrier is weaker for a one of several reasons, depending on who you ask. Here are the general answers;

- It is not manufactured by a particularly strong or warlike faction (Although, in many cases, they certainly act that way), and is therefore made more to what the faction can handle. In an OORP sense, it's a very versatile RP platform. Hell, the former ICMG RPed them as colony ships.

- It is somewhat more suited for travel in asteroid fields (which, to an extent, it is) and thus gives up some degree of power in exchange for easy maneuvering in such fields.

- It's spammed too much (not true to any extent)

OR

- TEH ADMINZZZ HAATE UZ (not true, either)

Personally...I go with a mix of the first and second options.

Don't think of it as a light battleship! Think of it as an insanely overpowered cruiser. Then load it up with solis and go to town.

You can kill a Sarissa, while a Dread will require a lot of luck.
If you get killed by Outcasts in Tau 23, its not really the ships fault. I'd blame it on the numbers you will have to fight there in most cases. (There is just no chance that you can win against more then one Battleship, or one Battleship with support in a Zephyr)
An yes, its going to be dealt with. The 4.86 Zephyr will be different, so you wont have to worry too much about being outgunned.
