Zonerzonerzoner - Huhuh - 03-24-2011

I am looking to create a new Zoner faction. Dun dun dun.

Keep in mind this is a very basic idea of the faction.

Now before you start going on about Zoner caps and I what not, I want to say that this faction's biggest ships will be transports (one gunboat might appear if we can get around 10 or so members).

The main idea of the faction would be to have a freeport which we would call our home. It would be our most prized possession that we would defend at all cost. Most of our RP would be centred life at the freeport, from supplying it to defending it.

Unlike other Zoners, who I dare say hide behind politics too much, my "Freeport Zoners" would be more than happy to rip you apart should you jeopardize the safety of their freeport.

To simulate the harsh and less than prosperous life of the freeport, I would like our members to have only one ship (a fighter or freighter), while any transports would be on shared account. When a transport launches, we would make sure it is well protected as it would be costly to replace.
I'd really like if each ship was unique to give the idea of a motley crew, rather than a fleet of Zoner ID'd Sabres.

To deal with the factionlancer side of things, we would establish a close relationship from one of the official Zoner factions. We'd forward our requests FR5's and tech exchanges to one of them so that they may give us some weight as a faction.

Relations with the houses would be somewhat non existent. Requests to ban pirates from our freeport would be met with a "And what can you do for us in return?" attitude. The affairs of the houses have little to do with us.

Interactions with traders that deliver goods would be met with offers of free escorts through a few systems. With supplies hard to come buy, ensuring the safety of those who deliver them makes sense.

Rather than having ranks, we would have titles. These titles would be earned based on what the pilot does well. Knock the socks off an enemy or enemies? You'll get something like "Brawler" as a title. Escort transports on a regular basis? You'll be known as "Guard." Basically nicknames that your fellow Zoners will decide on.

The Zoner in the leadership position will be the Director. The Director acts as a Chieftain. To attain any kind of power over your freeport family, you must either become trusted by the director or work your way into his or her family (should the director die, the next of kin gets his or her position unless a successor from outside the family was chosen). Should the Director prove to be a tyrant and 50% or more members agree, the Director may be confronted and forced to step down (whether he or she chooses a successor or goes down fighting so that his family may continue to govern is up to the individual controlling the director).
Members of the faction who were director, but ended up being assassinated may remain in the faction but will need to RP a different character.

ID's used would include Zoner and Zoner guard of course. Other ID's could include Junker (to represent the shadier individuals) and Miner (should the freeport chosen be near a mine-able field).

The overall idea is to create a family where everyone gets a say in the running of their freeport.

Criticism? Comments? Additions required? Points that need clearing up?

I like this idea. Alot.

However, you may want to refine the...ahem..."impeachment" of Directors. It may land you with a whole lot of unneeded butthurt, if it's ever used in the way you've described.

That looks like a bit to that we currently do with Ames.

May be find a Freeport that nobody "Rp'ed" and try.

No, finchy wont give it up.

I think...

Anyways...

I like the idea of different ships.

Good luck.

If someone needs Freeport One, he's welcome. There is an agreement with Kingdom of Bretonia in the respective database and unsigned contract on technological support of ships on Aland Shipyard. And other fancy stuffs and giggles.

And the general idea is what the Zoners should ideally be - groups of people running separate stations in a network. If you will have patience to keep things working, you won.

Zoners Scientific Union. Or something like that.

I know, it's not much Freeport-related, but I kinda like this idea. I were thinking about it since disband of SCIOP, but never tried to create it. It's all about research RP and stuffs. Not much to tell.

If you can't find a Freeport, I have Freeport 19.
