Marsflyer - Horon - 01-25-2008 I was dinking around in single player earlier. Having fun mixing parts of ships with each other with Ioncross CE. I decided to use an Arwing and Marsflier. I went to Battleship Isis to buy a Marsflyer. Nothing strange there. I bought it, and undocked. I tested the weapons on the Nomads flying around.. The odd thing is, that my energy went down to ZERO in about...I don't know... half a second? Maybe this is what they meant when they said they balanced the Marsflyer. Still, this seems really....Wrong... Marsflyer - Eppy - 01-25-2008 Well, the thing is, people were using Marsflyer guns on transports...so their energy usage got upped. A lot. That was my understanding, anyway. Marsflyer - Horon - 01-25-2008 Thats correct. However, they decreased the damage that those turrets do as well. Besides, the Marsflier used to be able to fire its guns for quite a while. This...is no where near where it was once at... EDIT: That, and the fact that the guns state that they use hardly any energy at all....Seems kinda like a joke to me. Might not use much energy compared to the ship, but that doesn't mean the ship has alot of energy to begin with.. Marsflyer - Virus - 01-25-2008 Don't forget, a gunboat can do circles around it.... And I used to fly one when it wasn't a bad ship... Marsflyer - Eppy - 01-25-2008 They really should just increase the ship's powerplant. I've only seen two Marsflyers in my time here, it would be nice to see if somebody can come up with a Roleplay reason to use them, if they were actually worth something. Marsflyer - Jinx - 01-25-2008 while i think them marsflyer is quite a nice ship ( custom sound for example - an example how much you can actually modify FL ships ) it allways caused raised eyebrows. it was allways considered out of roleplay - no matter what faction you were using. i guess its one of the ships being replaced by something else soon anyway - ( allthough i like the sound / engine ) - it is useless now, - so in addition not to fit into roleplay it is now utterly useless, too. works for the mod though. besides - i d love to know how to do custom engine effects/sounds - a zoner ship ( a real FL design ) with such effects would be awesome - instead of the common thrusters ( if we take the "this is an alien design" - stuff serious.... if there have been so many different aliens in sirius - and a ton of the ships utilized by humans now - why not use such an effect for .... maybe a new capship. ) |
