It's not like every freighter pilot can afford capital armour and the best most people use is a MK8 which every single person and their mother uses regardless of ship class, this gives the same multiplier and ships with higher base hull would still have higher hull points. When I look at combat freighters like Grizzly, I just shake my head in shame. That thing is supposed to be a pseudo-bomber, yet it barely has enough hull more than a VHF and mediocre powerplant at best. Freighters need some love, seriously. Freighters - Enoch - 04-20-2011 I'm not sure if they need more core, but they certainly could use more armor. A Drom has less armor than a Sabre, a Bactrian has the same. Doesn't make sense to me. Freighters - Zukeenee - 04-20-2011 They got a 3x powercore boost in the last update. They're pretty awesome as far as power goes right now, ignoring the fact that power-recharge stayed the same, so it now seems 3x slower. Armor doesn't seem to be a problem, either. They're heavily armored enough to survive until they can get out of harm's way. Even though some people use 'em for fights, freighters aren't really made for combat, so armor's not as big an issue as some might think. There have been several threads on what we can do to make freighters "better". One of the best ideas I've seen so far is something that Boss came up with to make trading with freighters (sort of) more profitable than trading with bigger transports. Has something to do with cargo selling for higher prices when it's off-loaded at lower quantities at a time. It's something that could probably be implemented with FLHook or something. Other than that, I like freighters as they are, stats wise. There are a few specific freighters that I think could use a buff in a few specific areas, but overall, better stats aren't what freighters need right now. What freighters need is a purpose. Freighters - VoluptaBox - 04-20-2011 Some more hull, yes. Not enough to be able to take a SNAC, since they can dodge pretty well, but a bit more, yes. Power cores are fine the way the are now, imo. I honestly have no idea how to implement that. |
