How does it make sense? Removing the ships ability to defend itself? A station of that size would really have better protection than it does, but I understand why it doesn't. So how does removing it completely make sense?

I say give it a self destruct command that obliterates everything within a 30k radius.
The command also makes the barge a starflier when it respawns.
