NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - Pinko - 04-21-2011 There used to be a time in .84 where people would buy BHG NPCs by the bucket next of Malta and Crete when they were worth something, but today, such practices have stopped. It was an extra possible income, in which missionwhores would get an extra credit for their hard work, and those NPC farmers would get some decent cash for their work. But since this activity has declined, an activity which actually encouraged teamwork. Today's equivalent of NPC farming would be mining, of course. But I don't see why this activity should have died out. Oh, wait, yes, there are reasons for it. Missions aren't a reasonable income source. They're time consuming, and you often lose more credits than they give you if you get careless. Should they have more benefits to it, you would see groups of people being able to entirely pay all expenses of their ships simply by doing some missions, as an alternative to Trading, Mining and Pirating. Then would come in play Prison Liners/Transports, which would buy an updated version of NPC pilots, which are perishable. This would mean that a single fighter doing missions and trying to fill the haul of a transport with it won't be efficient at it, while a group of organized pilots will be able to fill up a transport quite quickly. Since they are perishable, the price of this commodity should be updated. Why would it be perishable? Well, most likely horrid conditions of pods, rapid decay of nomad brains, injuries, etc. Perhaps, if it is possible, make a different commodity that spawns for NPC pilots in missions, which would give these rarer pilots which are perishable. What do you think? NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - Pinko - 04-22-2011 6 hours and no feedbacks? NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - sajuuk680 - 04-22-2011 Raise Mission Incomes for sure, i mean, there must be another ways than trading to earn money... But NO to NPC Pilots NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - Friday - 04-22-2011 Part of the problem with perishable NPCs, is that people use these harvested NPCs a RP cargo - representing themselves or their crew. I did however, vote 'yes' to special - mission only cargo. This would be VERY useful - and could be extended to all sorts of smuggling operations. Imagine instead of blowing up a ship - the mission involved flying out to the mission waypoint and shooting a freshly spawned depot containing contraband to be smuggled? When delivered to the relevant base - payment is made via mission completion rather than at the trade desk. This was part of a concept by Dusty Lens, looking at ways to allow small smuggling ships to gain greater value from smuggling (without letting larger transports run the same cargo in greater quantities). See my sig for more details. Are there any people out there with a penchant for making missions? I could give it a go. NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - Jinx - 04-22-2011 A&L guy claimed that he was able to make more than a billion credits "easily" in a week doing missions ( anti-cap missions from rostock ) so the payout appears to be good enough ( at least when you fly alone vs. 4 osiris all of them dropping great amounts of commodities and credit cards ) what could be done is: - raise the mission PAYOUT - but nerf the NPC drops severely NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - AeternusDoleo - 04-22-2011 Raise mission payout and have the NPC ships on the higher pay missions equip armor - heavy armor. Fighters: AU (level/3) Freighters: AU8 Transports: CAU3 for small trains, CAU4 for medium and armored transport, CAU5 for large Gunboats: CAU4 Cruisers: CAU5 Battleboats: CAU7 This will make the fights more challenging, and take a bit longer. Then the loot drops can stay as is. This will require an ini edit or two for the loadouts. NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - Ceoran - 04-22-2011 The reason no one is buying BH/Corsair pilots in front of Malta anymore is because their prices got upped by several k, so it's not worth anymore to ship them down to Arranmore. So basically with the raised prices the "extra income" is already permanent. As for the perishable parts: I can see it applied to nomad stuff and would like like to see people hauling nomads to Cambridge again, but not for human pilots. Missionwhoring itself pays already good if you are going against battleships (and are lucky with the spawns). killing cruisers isn't that bad either, though they only have half the amount of credit cards. I'm also against reducing their drops. Killing an Osiris gets you 1 million in credit cards, which is about the same value as a fleet admiral you can get from a house capital. I'd rather suggest to introduce more anti-cap missions so every faction can do them for profit and not just OC, BHG, RM and RH NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - akka1000 - 04-22-2011 ' Wrote:A&L guy claimed that he was able to make more than a billion credits "easily" in a week doing missions ( anti-cap missions from rostock ) A&L did also spend 3-4 days a week online doing this missionwhoring. Payments are very random, or so i found. I used to missionwhore with A&L for a few hours a day and the ammount of osiris missions was random, and relatively uncommon NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - Uzed - 04-22-2011 I dont really know what to think about that, on the one side its a good idea, but on the other "Perish"able sounds.. well, and how long would it take them to perish... something semi-offtopic: We should make pilots take more cargo space. No fighter is able to hold 50 pilots in his hold.... NPC pilots as perishable goods / Raise the income given by missions - tommantom - 04-22-2011 why not just have missions were you choose what you fight help people get up the ladder many a time i have taken mission thinking they are low pay low level then 4 ossis pop up in my face. realy. make it so you can choose if this is possiable the caps can fight caps and fighters can fight fighters |
