Can 1 modem work somewhere else? - Lyderies - 05-11-2011

Heres my problem,

I lived in NZ, joined a company got a wireless modem, then i have now moved to OZ, and was just wondering if one companies modem will work with another company?

I don't think so. I've had to switch modems everytime I switched internet providers.

You should be able to use your modem over here.

It *should* just be a case of talking to your new ISP and telling them what sort of modem it is.

Most ISP's use modems that are easily gotten at most computer shops and then repackage them into their own box.

I've changed my modem a couple of times with my ISP, I'm currently using a 'Billion' and I had no problem setting that up.
Before that I had a 'D-link' modem that was both LAN and Wireless.

So yeah, check with your new ISP before throwing out the old one.
