Mouse advice - LONGBOW - 06-12-2011

I've used a logitech trackball for 7 years, but it's getting ready to cut out on me and I've decided to get a mouse instead. After looking online I've narrowed it down to about 3 models : razer lachesis, razer imperator, and the R.A.T. 5 (because I don't feel like spending $100 for the 7). I've never really used a mouse before, so I'm looking for advice as to how these perform, comfort, longevity, etc. Any information you can send my way would be appreciated, as I don't want to spend $80 or so on a sucky mouse that I don't like.

Logitech MX518

With a wire coz it's just better.
Enough buttons.
Lays good in the hand.

Not too expensive either.
In short I love it.

Razer.
Expensive and supreme, just one time buy.
I bought cheap OCZ Macro KB and cheap OCZ lazer mouse simular to the Logitech MX518 shown here and I am not impressed, not that they are bad but they dont have the same options or the same precision.
My brother uses both Razer mouse and KB and the difference is huge.

In all honesty, don't go for something showy and expensive right off the bat, you might not be able to get comfortable with a mouse after using a trackball for so long.

Have a look at the Microsoft line of computer mouse, Logitech even has some good ones.

They are relatively cheap, but if there is one thing MS has gotten right, it's their computer mice. (mouses?)

They tend to be a little ordinary looking, but they don't break easily and work pretty well.
I have an old MS intellipoint mouse that I keep as a backup, just in case my Razer Deathadder turns up it's toes.

If you *must* have an all singing, all dancing mouse, don't go wireless.
You can guarantee that the batteries in it will die at a *crucial* moment.

Delux M500.

Something like that. I've been using it for two years now, never, ever had a problem. And it does everything all these gaming mice do...except for the changeable weights part.

Though I do want a Microsoft Sidewinder mouse with the LCD screen.....because why not?

Price -WILL- be different for you, because I doubt you live in Tasmania!:P(was just teh first site that popped up with it.)

I use a Microsoft Wireless Mobile Mouse 4000 with BlueTrack. Has a leather grip on the sides, a REALLY smooth mousewheel (doesn't make that annoying clicking sound), 1 button on the side which can move you a page back, and is wireless.

The thing I love about this mouse, is the wireless receiver. Then end of it that sticks out is about this small (USB port):

There's no hugeass receivers you can't place anywhere. A storebought unchargable battery will keep the mouse alive for at LEAST 24 hours of use, damn long for a mouse, from experience. I bought it for '‚¬44,95

Pic cus I'm nice
