Is it possible to give the weapon effects a small area lightsource?

For example, some planets (most of them are big gas giants if I recall correctly) illuminate the whole ship in a certain area in a different light than the one from the system's sun. This effect is added in the .ini of each system.

If it were possible to implement this light source effect in a smaller scale to the projectile of the weapons, it would allow to increase the realism of the mod and make it a lot more enjoyable!

But the question is ... is it possible at all?

It is possible, but to work satisfactorily it needs an overhaul of the Freelancer rendering system ... which is also possible. Freeworlds has done just that (both rendering and lights) for their new version. We don't have that.

It is possible without the overhaul, but then the number of lights is very limited (I can't remember the exact one-digit number) and I *think* it had some sort of bug when we tried it for Broken Bonds... I'm not sure what, though.

So, go ahead and try, you can get at least some results.

Lighting effects mentioned here is one of Freeworlds Tides of War's advanced graphics techniques, I'd like to see this in Discovery if the devs of Freeworlds don't mind sharing their secrets.:)

Furthermore, I'm sick of people who impede the mod's process with pathetic excuses. I know we try to accommodate everyone but not progressing at all because of a select few isn't an effective development process. :nono:Maybe I care too much about Disco, don't hate me.
