First Freelancer Troubles... Ever? - Camtheman - 06-22-2011

Well, when I just fly the ship, spin the camera around in turret mode... this annoying graphics lag happens.

Never, ever happened before.

Its not the internet,

Its running currently at 139 m/s, fluct of 1ms, the rest are all zeros.

The Fraps FPS counter in the corner goes down from 60 to the high fifties for the milliseconds the graphics lag happens. This doesnt happen in any other game...

ideas?

Nope.
I've been getting something similar, the game seems to freeze for a poofteenth of a second, then it carries on as per normal.

Odd that.

I found the same thing. It happens when a Navy group, player, or other collection of large ships is about to hove into view. It's probably the server sending a large amount of data to the client suddenly... as Discovery gets bigger, so the amount of data coming downstream gets larger too.

I dunno about the OP's problem... but my graphics card doesn't handle particles too good, so it goes a bit choppy when I have thruster on. And, surprise, when in turret looking out the rear. Could be related.

edit: @Cam are you using widescreen 1920x1080 mode? I found that can really slow the PC down.

Windows 7 ? If yes, I have the same problem. It started after I switched for XP to W7.

I had the same problem. It ceased when I switched from ATI to NVIDIA. Nothing else helped.

Here are all the answers I got back then http://discoverygc.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=97028

It's more likely that the game data on your PC is loaded. Models, textures, effects, sounds ... a reasonable programmer wouldn't send ALL the data to your computer for a multiplayer game, just the values to change waypoints, attack vectors and what target to shot next.

So I think this problem will also happen in your singleplayer game;)

No, that's normal graphics lag. When someone comes into scanner range and their ship pops up in the distance yeah I have that too...

This is different though.

It doesnt stop like that does. It just repeats over and over. Graphics lag, nothing, graphics lag... nothing.

Sucks.

Windows 7 or not?

It might help if you do answer some question given by some people who are willing to help.

Yes Windows 7.

I doubt its the problem.
