Well, yet another computer related problem that I know nothing about, can't fix or simply did something wrong and is not a problem but now is because I messed it up while deleting all files marked "system32" (which I didn't).
Anyway.
I just started up my Laptop last night and was about to start FL when y mouse was no longer detected/powered.
I then tried swapping USB ports etc etc but nothing helped. So I restarted the PC.
When it was back up'n running all was well and then ONCE AGAIN the mouse had the same problem.
SOo. I restarted again.
This time, however.
It powers up, and gets to the "Toshiba" opening screen thing, and then just goes black/blank..w/e.
In short it doesn't work.
I've tried restoring defaults, removing the battery and leaving it for 10 mins checking the setup (to the best of my knowledge it was fine)

Also, I'm not bothered with the mouse at this point in time...
Motherboard was faulty/blown/eaten/assaulted.
So, I have to wait for a replacement for it...
R5000 later So... the Rand>Dollar exchange is about 6,75 to 1 if I'm not mistaken?
So it's quite a wad o' cash...

Did you try turning it off and on aga... Wait.
I suggest you take it to a technician if warranty can still be applied. If not, pray that it's not the MB or power source.

There's no option to do this.
The only thing I can do is 1. Press F2 for setup or 2. press F12 for boot device selection

When it's booting up, press F8. This should give you the option to boot it in safe mode. If you get it running in safe mode, then defragment your hardrive. My PC does something similar to this every now and then because the spot on my HD where the boot memory is stored is going bad, and defragmenting usually solves the problem, it just takes forever. I can't explain the mouse thing. Try it with another PC, if it works, you may have a bad motherboard...

Forgive me if this is what you've tried, but if you have the OS disc, press F12 when it boots up to ensure that you're booting off of the disc.
Alternatively, open up your laptop and look for a small watch battery. This is powering your motherboard. Remove the Battery and then put it back in. This will reset your BIos (a sort of sub OS). This is responsible for a variety of super basic settings that totally kill your computer if they change at all. Resetting often helps.
If you can't reinstall, or reset and reinstall, I think you might be looking at a hardware problem.

Hmm, @ Longbow: It doesn't boot further than the sort of "ingrained" Toshiba screen, there is nothing further than that... so, I've tried pressing F8, but no effect.
I'll have a look at resetting the BIOS, I'll see if that helps. But other than that.... :(

Best with all complicated stuff work your way tru the error possiblities "from basic to special".
Try to get into your BIOS setting first.
If that works and you can use the menues its most likely Software related.
Software includes parts of the BIOS called "ACPI" !!
Some hardware settings are stored there and this is sometimes messed up, producing just the results like you described.
Therefor in modern Bios there is an option to "reset ACPI (settings)".
Enable that and save your changes (exit bios) and reboot.

This sounds like a defective boot device. Quite possibly your harddrive died. Try booting from your operating system installation CD (you can use F12 to select CDRom as boot device). Then attempt a repair install. If it's just the boot section of your harddrive that got corrupted, the installer should fix it. If it's a dead harddrive you'll have to replace it and reinstall from scratch.
