Investigations into disappearances in the Kansas sector.
The Research log of Jack Denton, Captain of the deep space exploration and research vessel Prometheus.

After hearing rumours of missing pilots in the Kansas system I decided to investigate. Ships that vanish without a trace would imply a jumphole, and if so it is not mapped on any map of Sirius that I have ever seen.
After arriving in the Kansas system I ordered the crew to plot a circular course around the system to search for any signs of a gravitational anomaly consistent with a jumphole. After almost an hour of fruitless searching we came to a green nebula and began to search inside, we soon came into contact with another pilot with the call sign ZagGeh. ZagGeh was also searching the system for the source of the disappearances so we decided to team up, after roughly fifteen minutes of searching ZagGeh found something.

An ancient Jump Gate almost certainly built by the Daam K'€™Vosh, it was heavily damaged, far beyond the point where any human Jump Gate could stay operational. Yet scans showed that it was still very much alive.

The damage to the Jump Gate meant that it could not acomadate a ship of the size that I was Captaining, I therefore asked ZagGeh to pass through the gate and report back to me about what was on the other side.
After passing through the gate ZagGeh reported back to me that there was an extremely high amount of background radiation in the system and that it was quickly eating away at his ship. He tried to reactivate the gate on his side but due to the damage to the gate on my side it was incapable of establishing a connection. He decided that he would go out into the system to explore and hope for a way to get out of the system or a place that was not highly irradiated. I kept in contact with him and tried to help him as best as I could but I was not of much assistance. After some time he contacted me and informed me that he could see an object in the distance, he described it as a huge, alien looking structure, almost organic. I warned him to be careful as I feared it was a nomad structure as everything he had said indicated the unique building style of the Sloman K'€™Hara. He was desperate however as his ship was quickly degrading around him.

The station'€™s automated systems seemed to still be online so he sent the request to dock. A human voice answered him and gave him permission, this puzzled us both. Upon landing he discovered that the station was in fact inhabited by hundreds of humans of almost every nationality, these were the missing pilots that we had heard of. They offered him repairs and he gladly accepted, after repairing his ship ZagGeh launched and attempted to find a way out of the sector. After some searching he found what appeared to be trade lanes, on closer inspection however he reported back that they looked similar in design to the Nomad space station. After following the Alien trade lane rings for a while he found a Jump hole, his ship was once again deteriorating so I told him to risk it and go through the Jump hole. The Jump Hole emerged into the Pennsylvania system through the Texas Jump Hole. I met up with him again in orbit above Planet Manhattan and transferred payment to his account for his help exploring the system beyond the gate.

After leaving Manhattan orbit I contacted an associate of mine who goes by the name of Zeppet with the goal of recruiting him to take a better look around the sector. I gave Zeppet the coordinates of the Jump gate to the unknown system as well as the location of the trade lane rings, alien station and jumphole in the unknown system. While Zeppet was exploring the system beyond the gate I went to the Texas Jump hole in Pennsylvania to study it and try and determine why two different jumpholes connect to it and if it could somehow be manipulated to allow jumps to the unknown system.

These are the pictures that Zeppet took:

The inside of the Jumphole out of the Unknown system, it is distinctly different to a normal jumphole.

After studying the Jump hole in Pennsylvania I have failed to find anything special about it at all. It is in every aspect one of hundreds of almost identical Jump holes throughout the Sirius sector. I have also failed to find a way to change its destination point by introducing large masses to its immediate surroundings.
However this expedition has been far from a waste of time in my opinion as I believe it has proved or at least strongly implied a great number of things that have been the source of bickering amoung the scientific community for decades now.

Firstly it proves that the Daam K'€™Vosh empire extended far beyond the Sirius sector (the unknown system does not automatically appear on the navmap of Sirius as it should regardless of circumstances).

(Kansas is marked by the red arrow)

The Unknown system does not branch off of the Kansas system like it would if it was within Sirius.

Secondly it strongly implies that our trade lane technology is based off, if not entirely copied from the Daam K'€™Vosh technology, despite Ageira Technologies'€™ insistence to the contrary. It is evident from the photos supplied by Zeppet that the alien trade lanes look almost exactly like our own trade lanes and although the lanes were not working it is a reasonable assumption that they function like our own trade lanes. (I plane to prove this Hypothesis in the next couple of days).

Thirdly it strongly implies that the Daam K'€™Vosh used the Jump holes frequently as a method of transportation, the likelihood of a Jump hole forming at the end of the alien trade lanes after the system was abandoned by its creators is close to impossible. One should not take this to mean however that Jump Holes were created by the Daam K'Vosh, it simply means that the Daam K'Vosh used the Jump Holes.

This research was done completely independently and was not commissioned by any faction in Sirius.
