If I were a level 40 RPer in a Transport (the 1000 Cargo Unit variety) who only used it for mining (with some escorts ofcourse) and hauling back the obtained mined materials to a certain destination, what kind of ID would this require to be roleplay-sound? Because the only two I can think of are Trader ID (which doesn't really fit) and IMG (if it exists) ID (which I don't particularly care about). Can anybody think of which of these (if not, any other) Would be appropriate?

Depends where you're working at. If you're doing the Manhattan silver run, then a DSE or Junker ID would be best.

And how would a DSE or Junker ID help? Unless I were collecting silver for Starship alloy, but why a junker?

Miner ID needs to be changed.
Because, nothing stops people from mining with Trader ID.
And that makes them invulnerable to Pirates (they can tax, but can't kill w/o tax).
Miner ID can be shot at without taxing. I think at least.
