Running the mod under wine / Linux - scummos - 07-18-2011 Hi! As this mod looks very promising, I'd like to try it out. However, although vanilla Freelancer runs flawlessly under wine (the windows non-emulator), the modded version crashes. First, I did this: I downloaded the mod zip file and extracted it with the "unzip" command inside my freelancer installation directory. The unpacked files seemed to merge into the directories correctly. Then I started the game; I get your splash screen, and the menu loads, I can edit the settings and stuff. However, when either attempting to load a game or create a new one, the "Loading" progress bar appears for about one second, then the game crashes. So, here's the debug output of wine: http://pastie.org/2230491 The strace log is too large to paste, so I uploaded it: http://files.feorar.org/freelancer_trace.txt Maybe the end of that is relevant, you can see it crashes directly after renaming that temp file to "user.reg", so it was probably writing a registry key... Maybe anyone has tried this before and knows how to get it to work, or maybe anyone of the devs is interested in debugging this; I'd be happy to provide more information. Cheers, Sven |
