Kerbal Space Program - Fletcher - 07-23-2011 I'm not addicted to a game still in development (Minecraft style). Your goal (if any), is to build a rocket, send your three cosmonaughts into a stable orbit. Its tougher than you think, my current (on-going) simulation has my people at... 333,000 meters and climbing since I ran out of fuel, though their intertia is very slowly falling. I've had... many failed rockets, and after watching some videos on Youtube... well. You'll get the idea. Lunatic with rockets How its meant to be done I'm having fun, check out its forums too, free add-ons! Here is the game: http://kerbalspaceprogram.com/ This game makes it deceptively easy to build, though hard as hell to get a stable orbit. Maths are involved... EDIT: More madness Kerbal Space Program - Enko - 07-23-2011 Perpetual Motion was somewhat easier than orbit. The speed was increasing of about 0.2 m/s per second, slow acceleration, but zero thrust. Created from a three booster final stage that I designed to do orbit with, but an unexpected AFK came back to this. Oh well, atleast we got to be the fastest men to exist before we got lost in space. Kerbal Space Program - Fletcher - 07-23-2011 Haha, I'm trying to create stable orbits, its easy to fire someone into space... too bad there wasn't a moon to aim for. There is a lunar module mod. Kerbal Space Program - Enko - 07-23-2011 It needs variable thrust per engine, not just per stage. I tried making a five engine final stage shuttle which was launched on a Saturn V base, it worked, but the problem is that my strong three primary engines guzzled all my fuel reserves when I just wanted some minor movement from my two ion engines (I had it designed with a centeral tank). It also meant the whole Ion engine thing was useless as I couldnt run them on full thrust power without the primary liquid fuel boosters. It made it annoying. Ion Engines arn't enough to do much in orbits either, so they are pretty useless unless you just want to go deep space exploring, not unless they add individual thrust anyway. Kerbal Space Program - Fletcher - 07-23-2011 Liquid engines have variable thrust;) Kerbal Space Program - r3vange - 07-23-2011 [color=#FFFFFF]It's like Orbiter but you can play it while stoned! Thanks for the link I'll finally try it out. I've been seing guys make threads about it on /v/ Kerbal Space Program - Captain - 07-23-2011 this game is awesome, but eurh, what do you have to do whith it, atm I'm making rockets go up to 300k of the planet and then make em crash Kerbal Space Program - Torch Rose - 07-24-2011 So my first rocket was a complete failure, couldn't even get off the pad without exploding 3 times and doing flips. My second rocket made it to 25K before I bailed. Gonna try again with a new rocket Kerbal Space Program - CHUNKINATOR - 07-24-2011 Quote:Its tougher than you think, my current (on-going) simulation has my people at... 333,000 meters and climbing since I ran out of fuel, though their intertia is very slowly falling. I got too 920,000 Meters :P :D Kerbal Space Program - Switchback - 08-06-2011 love the modding base, downloaded a pack of parts (sunday Punchs Pack) and its great! awesome fun when nothing to do other than lulz. ^^ |
