Go to layer properties of your final product and add an inside stroke.

I didn't follow the guide to the letter, but this is what I did with GIMP in around 45 minutes.

Ye I know it's not signature sized.

I think I got the background bit right, but Till doesn't blend well with the background (and no that's not an outer glow:P).
