Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Fletcher - 08-02-2011 So I've been thinking, I placed a bounty a long while back in character about people swearing constantly in open channels in New York. Annoyed about the 'lack-of-mental-stability', I decided to instead of filing a rule report, I decided to file a bounty against the bugger while in-character. Sadly, that bounty is gone so I can't give an example. Is it legal for a player to place a blanket bounty against people who use vulgar language in-game in OORP/OOC context? Meaning, if they curse a blue-streak, a hunter can have the pleasure of destroying the bugger while telling him off for it as a rule of the bounty, though not in a rule lawyer fashion. So yeah, simply, bounties against swearing. Legal? EDIT: Forgot to add, another reason I ask for this is to try and make sanctioning a 'last resort', so with this type of bounty placed, people can just hop into a hunter/merc/vigilante whatever to hunt the bugger, and teach them a lesson in manners. Hopefully, if it caught on, it would mean less sanctioning and more people playing. I've seen quite an increase in vulgar language sanctions. Also hopefully, if the buggers don't get out of system after the 'kill' is done, then greater action can be taken right? Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Fletcher - 08-02-2011 Hopefully with this more people CAN play the game and stop playing Sanctionlancer.:( Why did it get shot down? Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Daedric - 08-02-2011 Only official factions can post blanket bounties. Doesn't matter who the targets are, you can't post blanket bounties unless its being done on behalf of an official faction. Anyways, I thought the filter took care of most cuss words? I know I got a warning when I let one slip in a PM to Gheis. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Fletcher - 08-02-2011 Hmm, I guess I'll place bounties on an individual basis if I come across anyone then, though if there is a filter, how come there are still sanctions about vulgar language? Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - SnakThree - 08-02-2011 Because they avoid them. 1diot, J3RK... You get the drift? Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Dab - 08-02-2011 Bounties can't be placed for OORP reasons. This is why the Bounty Board section is in the roleplaying section of the forums. 10. Any player abusing the bounty system to drive players off the server or to further out-of-roleplay conflicts will face consequences for disrupting play. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Fletcher - 08-02-2011 I've taken this type of thing on an individual basis in-rp once, never heard a complaint, in-fact I was encouraged to do more. It was along these lines: "While I was in my Mining Vessel dropping off some gold to Rochester, I decided to pick up some refugee children to take back to New London for an education in a Settlement 121 orphanage, to try and give them a future. Then all across the intercom and system chat a pilot started spouting vulgar language! I've tried to keep these young'ins innocent and naive! This person must pay the consequences for being offensive and vulgar in front of the young, innocent children! 4 million for that pilot to enjoy space in his escape pod!" Yeah, something like that. Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Madvillain - 08-02-2011 blow someones ship up for vulgar language? that's a bit..... Question: Using blanket bounty format to; - Jihadjoe - 08-02-2011 Because clearly the best way of dealing with Angry McVulgarson is for the players he swore at to further antagonise him, rather than getting someone who actually has some authority to lay down the rules to deal with it. |
