System size - Vladimir - 08-02-2011 Space is big. Space is very big. Space is so big that'¦ blah blah blah. Alright. Some people seem to think that size doesn't matter, and what matters is how fast can you fly from point A to point B, preferably full of hostile vhfs. Now, I don't say I enjoy flying around like a retard for hour or more trying to find things to shoot, but big systems still look like fun, and they give a better feel when you just fly around or hunt people there or whatnot. Remember O-47? Ah, that's my favorite system it seems. Vast, clear, with nice sun, and a lot of places to go. Vomit clouds kinda spoil this up, but hey, such is life in Omegas. Munich. People tend to say it needs to be made smaller. Because what, too far between mining location and nearest lawful base? Come on. Well, it has a tricky spot for unlawful, where autopilot screws up and flies you into the sun, but that's only making it interesting. My trade runs involve smuggling some ores and some blood diamonds via jumpholes and cruising 100k in every system I go through, and that's the most relaxing thing I did in disco. Even more relaxing that Gamma. The worst thing in disco is system wall, in my opinion, for my biggest dream was buying a corvo and gtfoing into nothingness. But that's just me. On the other hand, say, O-41. This place gives me claustrophobia. Or, say, S-13. Or even O-7. Are these places fun? Nah, it's just vomit cloud and nowhere to go. Well, O-7 at least has an end to that cloud, but to see it I had to fight some RNC for quite a some time, and thrust around what, 70k of vomit devoid of anything? My point is. Do you prefer big and interesting systems that give you nice space feel, like O-47, or do you prefer smaller systems that give you the ability to spend less time in search for things to shoot, like O-7? It's really interesting. System size - Loken - 08-02-2011 Less systems that are bigger with more things in, is better than more systems. System size - SnakThree - 08-02-2011 Taking into account 4 hour rule, more smaller systems is better at this time in my opinion. System size - Cawdor - 08-02-2011 No. I don't enjoy spending hours in cruise speed growing a beard and wasting my time. Its the very reason why I have copies of my ships in every corner of my char's ZoI. I just don't see any reason why I should waste my time flying from A to B in places that I've already seen. Munich, New Castle and 47 are empty for a reason. They have their few route starters but that's it. I surely won't waste my time pirating in these huge crap holes because no one bothers to go there free willingly. In fact, all those huge systems should be scaled down and additionally, cruise speed should be scaled up. I'm just done wasting my time with huge ZoIs. System size - Loken - 08-02-2011 What if they had more stuff in and weren't just scaled up versions of regular systems though? And then we're down to 5 minute rounds with respawn and turn into space counter strike. Wait~ Actually, i enjoyed pirating in O47. It was like "Hmmm, some ship in system... Wait, what's that? Yeah, it's the silhouette at the sun! Intercept!". Blocking the exits and whatnot is way more fun than, say, camping a lane. System size - Torch Rose - 08-02-2011 I hate Newcastle. That should imply my opinion on this matter. System size - AeternusDoleo - 08-02-2011 Big is good for huge open space battles involving massive capship fleets. See LNS vs RNC. Big is not good for pretty much anything else. Limits interaction and makes getting from A to B rather dull. [Edit] An exception likely should be mining systems. Mining grounds should be away from friendly bases in the middle of nowhere to encourage miners to either hire escort or be faced with a pirate problem. Free passes in running to the nearest base and always making it, does not a happy pirate make. System size - SnakThree - 08-02-2011 ' Wrote:Quite the opposite, in my opinion.
