Guard systems? - looqas - 02-25-2008 Like the title says I'd like someone to enlighten me about their role and function. Guard systems? - S2000Gan - 02-25-2008 All I know is that I've been exploring alot recently and I've found the Order, Liberty Navy, and Outcast Guard Systems, and let me tell you, I aint going back there anytime soon. I'd rather fly through Nomad Space. Guard systems? - Ion - 02-25-2008 a guard system is inhabited entirely by one NPC group. these systems are 'sold' to PC factions and serve as their base of operations. 90% of the NPCs found in these systems are 'guard' aligned, this means that they are hostile to all but those who are very very friendly with the associated faction. they are also very tough. this means... it is unwise for a pirate to enter a police guard system, and vice versa. a few examples: Vespucci is Lane Hacker guard system and is owned (on the discovery 24/7 RP server) by HF Hiroshima is a Kusari Naval Forces Guard system and is owned (on the discovery 24/7 RP server) by the KNF Londonderry is a Molly guard system and is owned (on the discovery 24/7 RP server) by the UOG etc. the faction that owns these systems has the right to tax or kill anyone who enters these systems (even those under level 30) Guard systems? - ParanoidAndroid - 02-25-2008 Guard systems are a home systems for players factions and combined to NPC faction. As a new character you are a hostile to all guard system in Sirus. What is more they are highly guarded systems. They mainly serve for instance as a waitpoints for gathering faction players before some events etc. Also it is a place where you can probably get, in the most cases, capital faction ship. I would rather suggest to not enter any of them before you are not 100% sure that you not hostile to them. Guard systems? - looqas - 02-25-2008 Thanks. I feel enlightened. :D Guard systems? - Nelzie - 02-25-2008 There should be some kind of warning buoy or satellite outside of every single jump hole leading into those systems. The systems are completely "unfair" in that within seconds of jumping in, your vessel will immediately be destroyed. I don't mind jumping in and then finding out that the entire system is unsafe and need to jump back out, but just loading into the system and having my ship shot out right from under me is a bit much. It makes exploring essentially a stupid task to go about giving a go. Guard systems? - me_b_kevin - 02-25-2008 i'm not a big fan of guard systems myself. for the most part they sit there just being unused. i would be for them if they served a better purpose...say...housing faction specific ships. BUT that being said, if i'm not mistaken, you can just put a new base in an existing system that is actually the factions home system i.e. NY for the liberty folks or NB for the rheinlanders and make that base affiliated with the guard faction so nobody can dock on it unless they are friendly with the guard factions. making a guard system to do what can be done in the REAL home system is a waste to me. all those system could be made into thriving populated systems for all to enjoy and increase the RP potential of the mod. rant over, sorry about that Guard systems? - Unseelie - 02-25-2008 ' Wrote:i'm not a big fan of guard systems myself. for the most part they sit there just being unused. i would be for them if they served a better purpose...say...housing faction specific ships. Sorry Igiss, but the Guard systems aren't really a big draw for those of us who chose to stay unaffiliated. Instead of creating 20+ systems with nothing in them, make another Munich, a Newcastle, develop the Canadians, the Taus could use an update to their constructions, SOMETHING other than another system that doesn't allow people in...aka Vespucci, Hiroshima, etc. ooo, nice new system to explore, oh wait, 5 players coming to greet me...poof. "You shouldn't be here" after the shooting ends. what fun! /rant Guard systems? - mwerte - 02-25-2008 Hehe, I was in a patriot and entered Virginia. I didn't last very long. A warning bouy would be nice... |
