[ Not SOLVED] Really annoying FPS lag (still...) [Not SOLVED] - Camtheman - 08-20-2011 Well, I made a topic about this before and got nowhere... I thought it was fixed by going in the CCC (Catalyst Control Center) and turning off application use of 3d settings... But nope... Basically its nearly unbearable FPS lag... not for long, sustained periods of time but every second or so... I will watch the Fraps FPS counter go from 60 to 58 and back again (very quickly, and repeats...) Its as if, during the time of the FPS drop, that you took a video of the scene, went into a video editor and manually removed frames so the ship appears to skip space went turning instead of turning smoothly like it should... and always has for me untill now... This isnt a problem if you're looking forward... But turn the camera in turret mode or turn the ship and it would make fighting unbearable. My ping is fine, and my video card is an ATI 5770... [Not SOLVED] - Camtheman - 08-31-2011 Wha? [ Not SOLVED] Really annoying FPS lag (still...) [Not SOLVED] - Camtheman - 08-31-2011 That's not the problem, that's always happened on all of my computers i've played Freelancer on. That goes away right after that person/NPC's come into view (14k range) But this is different, its constant... turning the camera around the ship in turret mode... 60 fps, 57 fps, back to 60, and again all within like 3 secs.. Oh, I feel kinda dumb for not clarifying this... It doesnt only happen during turning the camera or ship. Just looking forward the FPS does the same thing. Sitting doing nothing. Same. [ Not SOLVED] Really annoying FPS lag (still...) [Not SOLVED] - Strichev - 08-31-2011 I had a similar thing. It just "freezes" for a fraction of a second then jumps forward. Extremely annoying. I've solved it when I changed my ATI card with NVIDIA one. [ Not SOLVED] Really annoying FPS lag (still...) [Not SOLVED] - Daron - 08-31-2011 ' Wrote:No, I simply know that on older machines periodic lag spikes can be caused by reading information from slow HDDs, when you meat a ship or any solar object suddenly pops up. Including projectiles, explosion effects as well as other things. Indeed, that's cache or hdd fragmentation related. But FL writes also an error log which causes lags, so please stop acting like a pro who you are not, sindroms. [ Not SOLVED] Really annoying FPS lag (still...) [Not SOLVED] - Camtheman - 08-31-2011 Rofl that's what ive been thinking as well... ATI has been a mistake ever since I bought this computer... Causing problems on different games as well but not like this where it makes it unplayable. |
