I also was all like "WANT" when I saw this.

But it's REALLY expensive...

I would really suggest getting an AEG first. It takes a lot of experience to snipe and frankly starting off with a sniper rifle is kind of setting yourself up for a lot of discouragement. For pretty much everybody, the first couple of games is figuring out how people move and how you should move. What constitutes effective cover is in that lesson. Learning when to just shoot into a bush and how to get kills comes a little later.

I really liked STAR, but now they've been bought by ARES, which is sad. But all things considered, I've been using this rifle for almost four years stock and I have never used a better rifle. The only thing wrong with it now is that the bolt broke, but the only thing that does is cover the hop-up so it doesn't really matter. I can still open it. So if you can get your hands on one of these, do it. The irons are also pretty.:D

I started off with an AEG AK-74su and absolutely hated it, so I would not suggest that. I also have an LSW and an M14EBR and I would not suggest either of those to start either. The LSW is just a really awkward gun that hasn't really figured out what it wants to be when it grows up. If you're looking at the M14 ever, just remember that the front is the heaviest thing in the world and the back is about as heavy as a feather. IE: it's utterly imbalanced and very hard to carry.

KWA makes very nice G36es and that gun is exceedingly comfortable. If you have some cash to spare, Flectarn (the matching camo) is exceedingly good and a foregrip/eotech (replica:P) combo is absolutely stellar. But then again, you could just chill like James and camo isn't that important. Movement is the most important thing. But I think we look much better.:P

Pistols, well, you'll probably want a gas one because springers are annoying. I don't really use a pistol, but I'm a fan of KWA, so if I did have a pistol, I'd probably buy from them. But I don't think you'll use it much. I never do. >.>

Why are people so fascinated about weapons ?

Airsoft - Malaclypse 666 - 10-21-2011

Meh.. real men eat paint, right Matt? And they did it wearin' "pumps", eh.

Back in the day, our weapon of choice was the Tippman SL-68 Mk II.

Proud ex-member, The Desert Dogs, Reno, NV.

(I'll see if I can find any vids of the Desert Flats tourney..)

Edit: Sorry... American Flats

Couldn't find the Tourney footage.. guess it's too "ancient". But the place is huge, amazing, and a bit dangerous.. one player fell 15 feet barely missing a protruding piece of re-bar. Another was crawling along a low concrete wall, and came face to face with a huge diamondback rattler..

Oh.. things not to do.. don't place your Co2 tank on the dashboard with the defroster running. Bugger popped the pressure release, shot across the dash, and blinded us with a cloud of dense Co2. Good times.

These are things I will take into consideration.

@soda I'll have a look at what AR's and such interest me.

@Mac I've had a few experiences with Co2 myself... The worst, not directly. Thankfully for that, too. It blew apart a double thick brick wall:nyam:

From my 6 year experience in airsoft i can say - everyone who wants to start up with that wants a sniper rifle in the first place. But for real - it's a waste of $$ and time and eventually you'll come to the point that you just need some nice AEG rifle, ak or m4 of some sort - does not matter. So i suggest to dig up in that way.

This place looks sick for a shootout

Airsoft - Switchback - 10-21-2011

Don't get a bolt Action sniper, get a AEG. as for which AEG to get, there are way to many to choose from.
I usually shop at airsoftGI because of the top notch support & Seller 15 day warranties(when manufacturers don't have one). For a new Airsofter, I would suggest a G&G Combat Machine M4. they are made from some durable polymer that makes it impossible to break from just a drop, plus they are only 140 for a non-blowback one(and you can get one wired to the rear or to the front) which is pretty great. For a pistol, I would suggest a 12g CO2 gun, way way WAY cheaper than green gas. And propane smells like balls.

Oh, and remember. Safety first, dont carry it out in public without a case EVER, and keep the orange tip on unless your at a arena that does not require it.

AND WEAR EYE PROTECTION.
