Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-16-2008

The sun sat over Manhattan as I came back into the southern districts on the planet. It was friday and the clubs were just warming up. I decided that if anyone knew anything about Shan, it would be here. I stopped by a clothes shop and disarmed outside in the alley next door. I walked inside and got a suit, a rather expensive one and made sure that it was custom tailored on the spot. I exited the shop and came to a club a few hours later. "The Figure".

As soon as I got to the front the bouncer crossed his arms and eyed me up and down. He nodded his head and opened the rope to let me in, I nodded and walked through the front door and scoped out the people in the club. I didn't see anyone that stood out until I started looking around and noticed several people walking around giving me some glances. Why they did I didn't know, I was in a casual suit with no real outstanding qualities at the moment.

That's when I noticed him, his face was obvious. Commander Jadyn was eyeing me from across the bar smiling. He walked over to me and stood near me.

"I told you we would meet again didn't I?" he said smiling.

"You did, but I didn't think you would track me down so quickly."

He laughed and shook his head. That's when he looked around and panicked for a brief moment but relaxed.

"I'll find you again Leo, we will finish this later, too many witnesses."

He walked off quickly in another direction, walking quickly through the crowd in an attempt to dissappear. I looked to where he looked and saw a man presuing him through the crowd, on his hip shined a badge. I smiled a little and looked to where he was going, maybe, it was possible...

Commander Jadyn knew something about this "Tainted" group, and could give me some info on where to find Shan. I verified I still had my handgun on me and walked quietly through the crowd towards the obvious police man who was following Jadyn, if I killed him, I might have a chance of getting some kind of info out of him before he tried to kill me.

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-21-2008

What happened next was a blur of events. Either that or it was one event, and went so fast that I was confused as to what happened. The law man had apparently shoved the wrong dancer on the floor and he got in a fist fight with the man. He threw a punch and missed hitting another man on the dance floor, causing the two to fight. The law man had managed to get by the fight unscathed and continued down the floor getting even closer to Commander Jadyn. A blue haze flashed in front of my eyes again just before things started to move very quickly. But, even though they were moving quickly, my brain was still picking up everything accurately.

The fight across the floor had attracted the attention of the bouncers. 6 foot 3 inches tall, 224 pounds, and could bench press probably about 400-500 pounds came out of the front of the club and threw the two fighters to oppsite ends and got inbetween them just before one of them pulled out a Detroit Handgun and fired at the bouncer, killing him in the process. The club turned into panic as I saw Commander Jadyn exiting stage right with the Lawman in presuit. Then an idea popped into my head. I quickly rounded the bar and shoved the bartender to the right and ran behind the counter diving across the end and tucking into a roll, I landed square infront of the law man who stopped quickly at the sight of me.

I rose slowly to my feet and looked up at him from the floor. "You got a problem with him, you got a problem with me law man."

"I do have a problem with you, but you were going to be last Leo." he said unholstering his pistol, before he could even get the hand up I had his hand wrenched downward and threw him easily into the bar behind me. Three clear shots rang out and that area of the bar scattered as well. He jumped back to his feet quickly and came at me. Blue haze again and things became clear the world jumped alive with color as things began catagorizing themselves according to threat.

The weapon in the man's hand became red, and the holster on his belt as well, I looked back at him and noticed that he as coming quickly at me. A dial popped up next to his head indicating his speed of 10 feet per two seconds. I dodged to the right grabbing his pistol and wrenching his wrist down quickly spinning him around and into the wall behind me. I turned the pistol towards his head and fired a shot. He slumped quickly to the ground. I stumbled back and watched as blood ran down the wall. Two more men were approaching quickly and I saw another blue flash and the colorful world vanished. I turned and exited the bar quickly, chasing down Commander Jadyn, to ask him the questions I needed to know...

What the hell was I?

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-25-2008

Commander Jadyn ran around the corner and as I did as well, I was met with at least 10 men standing in front of him with a smile. I slowed to a trot and then stopped infront of them. I lowered my head and felt something overtaking my thoughts.

"Fools..." whispered in my head...

"I'm going to give you a chance to just get on your knees and take the bullet to the head like a man Leo." he said with a smile. "I'm much smarter than you are, your foolishness allowed me to get you alone in this small alley way...I'm smarter than you are...faster-"

"I doubt that." I interupted.

He went to reach for his pistol and discovered it was missing. He snarled at me, I only returned it with a smile.

"You're going to regret that, death is coming for you...Leo. Men, kill him."

They reached for their weapons but found them missing as well.

"You really think I didn't notice your men in the club as well? You're stupid as you are naive."

"Death is coming-"

"When death smiles on us all..." I said smiling even bigger, "...what can a man do but smile back?"

The first man came at me with quickness, un-human speed. As happened before, my arms reacted naturally, and without thinking. In a few quick jabs, the man who had attacked me was on the ground groaning.

"Impressive..." Jadyn muttered. "Seems we have a little bit of a problem here. You seem to be stronger than they said you were."

"They're known for underestimating their prey."

"Get out of the way." he said shoving the other men aside. "I'll deal with this one myself. His mouth is getting on my nerves."

The men parted ways and he stepped forward.

"You're going to die Leo."

"Funny, I've been told that exact prase so many times, I don't even know if I can stand hearing it anymore."

"Don't worr-"

"I know, I won't have to right?"

"How about we stop talking, and I kill you?"

I smiled. He threw the first punch and I dodged quickly to the left and grabbed his arm, throwing him into the street. Blue haze again, and again the world became colorful. Data analyzed infront of my field of vision. I blinked twice and again the haze intensified. This time I heard sounds clearly everything fell into place. Footsteps, rapid, 5 feet 9 inches per second, approx 2 miles per hour, weight, 190lbs, fat to muscle ratio 5:20.

My body naturally spun around as he came running back, he had another gun in his hand, it immediately illuminated red but quickly both the color code and sound dissappeared as soon as they came and I was met with the full force of Jadyn's fist, his gun fell to the ground, discovering it to be one I replaced as empty. As I fell to the ground, my hand reached out automatically and the weight from my fall naturally spun my body quickly around and knocked the feet out from under him.

I rose back to my feet slowly as he got back up himself.

"Very impressive."

Sirens sounded off in the distance as police appeared at the club and entered through the front door, other came in our direction, Jadyn snarled and looked back at me.

"We will meet again Leo...this isn't over...I'll collect the bounty, or else I'm going to be a very angry man."

"I aim to displease...Jadyn."

He snarled again and him and his men dissappeared. What the hell was I, what was that blue haze, and why was it coming in in intermittent bursts? And only when I was fighting. I needed answers, and I knew who to go to.

"Sarah, this is Leo. I need some info, I need to know about Black Company."

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-25-2008

"I'm alive..."

A shocking realization...I was alive, that's all I knew...The lights hung dimly and a song played...a melody that was from my childhood...something started to happen, an intert feelings grew slowly. I saw a blue haze, and the men behind the glass smiled, they wore their suits. Corrupt government members, and criminals who were interested in what this technology could do...

A HUD appeared in my field of view.

"Break Loose Leo...it's your only chance..."

I snapped the restraints quickly and broke free-

"Leo!"

I shook my head, I had fallen asleep on the trip back into Bretonia Space where Sarah had agreed to meet me again.

"You looked concerned, like you were having a bad dream."

"No, no just a typical dream."

"Typical?"

"Whatever, do you have the info I requested?"

"Nice to see you too...yeah, I have it here." she passed me an envelope. "It was buried in the archives at-"

"At where?"

"No where."

"If you didn't want to say it, you wouldn't have almost said it."

"Worthless slime, I don't even know what she see's in you."

"What?" I asked.

"I didn't say anything." she replied.

The world around me dissappeared again.

"Because she loves me."

"Then why are you here, being strung up like some f***ing experement?"

I couldn't answer that one.

"You're a failure anyway, they're just going to kill you."

I blinked trying to clear my thoughts. Sarah's concerned voice seemed far away in the distance. Another memory tried breaking in over the one already recovering.

"I love you Leo..." she said leaning over me, her face looking calm

The memories were fighting with one another the other one over ran the other and it continued.

"You're lying...I'm going to escape...and you're the first to die..."

I heard a melody in my head and a blue haze snapped in front of my vision again, but only for a second before the song stopped again, this time Sarah was across the tram with a mix of shock and anger crossing her face.

"So you remember." she said.

"I remember." I replied, anger crossing my face as well.

"What now?"

I threw the envelope aside and with a flash was across the tram, pinning her to the wall.

"Now you die."

Her eyes switched over to what Takashi's looked like when he went Nomad.

"Incorrect." she said.

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-25-2008

I was thrown across the tram with a force equal to a truck hitting me. I fell down to the floor and popped back up immediately.

"Ignition"

The HUD appeared in full this time as I rose to my feet. I felt a feeling so strong that I was over whelmed...

"Ignition hmm?" she said pacing towards me slowly. "Always overwhelming when it first happens...well, when ever you remember it."

"You people are evil...monsters..."

"We simply want what all mankind wants, to better ourselves, and take over the weak. You once shared in this dream. This thought."

"I was once...forced to."

With a flash she came at me, but my brain automatically reacted, the implants finally doing their job. So I was exactly like Takashi Katacuchi and apparently Sarah. I was a weapon, something created by this Tainted group, who ever they were, and were obviously lead by Autumn, or a part of them. Ironically, she was my legal wife, but now she was simply just a pain in my side. Before Sarah could react I was already dodging her attacks quickly. I was faster than her, a lot faster. I hit her in the chest and watched her fly into the door at the back of the tram. She glared at me and stood back up.

The feeling was almost indescribable...I felt stronger than I ever had before. Data scrolled infront of me that listed data and information on my target. 26 year old female, her breathing was heavy, her eyes were dialated besides her Nomad implants being active. She was obviously irritated, and confused. Strange.

"You're supposed to be limited..." she said panting.

"I guess I still have friends inside Black Company...hmm? What's the matter Sarah, can't track me?"

She made a shocked face as I came quickly down the tram and hit her again with several quick attacks. She stumbled to a stop at the back, her implants shutting off. She fell into a seat panting deeply.

"You were a mistake...a failure..."

"I guess you underestimated me..."

"We wiped your memory, implanted other ones-"

"So much for those...

"I remember everything."

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-26-2008

She breathed hard as she stared into my eyes, my handgun leveled at her forehead. She started to cry, begging for mercy. Truth be told, I didn't remember anything, the only then I recalled was that she once tried to kill me. Wipe me out, to cover the mistake that I had become. Infact I wasn't a mistake, I was stronger than they had imagined, too strong. It was their job to destroy me, but they failed. From what I gathered, this 'bloodline' that Autumn had spoken of, worked perfectly with the Nomad implants and they had implanted me with experemental versions of the tech. In which I became far too powerful. From the memory, Sarah was the one in charge of my destruction, but I overpowered the restraints and the guards...and her. I made it out...but from that point on, I was at a loss, the only memories I had regained were those of my escape from the facility...in which I didn't know it's location.

Sarah had fallen into a state of dispair, almost frantic sobbing and crying engulfed the entire tram.

"Shut up." I said but she kept crying. "I said shut up!" I said hitting her across the face, she fell silent and looked up at me.

"I did love you...but that...b**** Autumn prevented me from ever seeing you for extended periods of time." she said through sobs.

"That's why you tried to kill me right?" I spat.

"I had my orders...I became cruel in order to hide my tr-"

"Shut up you, you with your false lies and attempts at turning me back to your side. You failed when you attacked me here in this tram." I leveled the gun to her head. "You're finished." I fired the gun and watched as she fell to the tram floor grasping her shoulder. She gasped for air laying on the floor. I narrowed my eyes and stared at her looking up at me with tear filled eyes. "You go back to you're people, and you let them know...that 'Project Raven' is going to come for them, and when he does...

"He's going to eridicate everyone in his path...you let them know to release Shan-Katacuchi and save themselves, or else people will die...lots of people...do you understand me?"

"Yes." she said thorugh gasps of breath.

"I can't hear you."

"Yes!"

I smacked her with the butt of my blaster and watched as she slumped, the whip knocking her out.

I exited the tram, my vision returning to normal...I still didn't know how to turn it on and off, but I was gaining control over it, and when I gained full control, they would loathe what happened next...

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-29-2008

New York System
Planet Manhattan, Docks District
Old Black Company Hideout

"Swine." I spat at the wounded soldier, he only smiled with blood stained teeth, and it was the last smile he ever had on his face. I fired a blaster round into his forehead and he fell to the ground limp. My headached, Leo had truely done a number on me. Forcing me to almost tears. It was true, I loved him, but that b**** Autumn would have nothing of it, espically me being with Leo...what was her f***ing angle anyway? She was out to take his blood and then kill him for fear of him becoming too strong, yet she loved him and left him little clues here and there so he would recover bits and pieces of his memory.

"I don't think you should be shooting them Sarah." Takashi said coming up behind me.

"And why not?" I replied with a sneer.

Takashi Katacuchi, one of the fabled legendary bloodlines for Nomad compatability, but as far as the leadership felt, Leo was the only one who was the most dangerous. Takashi was always a hothead, beliving Leo to be a weakling that only appears strong. However, Takashi's mother was killed when a Nomad tried to infuse itself with her, so it was obvious that Takashi was almost not comptatable with the Nomad, it was the fathers blood that allowed the fusion to be possible...and even then, the Nomad tech in him and me could still over take us at any moment, causing us to become...one of them.

"Because," he continued, "we need them for info. Leo was here, and if he was we need to know why he came here and why they lured him here. Do you really think he came here on his own accord?"

"You think Doctor Jean clued him into the hideout?" I asked quizically pulling a body up from the rubble, discovering it to be a corpse and dropping it back into the rubble.

"I know she did. We went to collect her and she was gone. Like a ghost...her implants are still active apparently."

"Can we track her like we did Leo?"

"No. She's disabled the tracking device, as the Black Company has done to themselves, and now Leo it seems. I can't locate his Node anywhere."

S***. Looks like Leo is getting smarter, and he's remembering memories more clear, real memories, none of the one's we made up to keep him oblivious to his true nature. Things were getting dangerous for us. If Leo remembered everything and gained full control over his tech, we would have a serious problem.

"Commander Sarah! Commander Takashi! Come quick!" one of the soldiers yelled and we followed suit. We came to a room of monitors, all were shattered except one, and the words left on the screen sent a chill so terrible through my spine.

"Leo is unblocked. Your death comes quickly."

I picked up my communicator quickly and called Autumn.

"Ma'am? We have a problem...a serious problem."

Order Space
Unknown Ship
Bridge

"Major, they've made a move...they went to Manhattan for some reason." said the ships comm officer.

"Reason?" I replied.

"Unknown sir."

"Last known location of their 'Project Raven'?"

"Manhattan sir, just before that it was Bretonia space."

I scratched my chin and thought. This "Leo" was no fool. I had tried to take him down at the Freeport in Omicron Delta and had lost. Apparently he was on the run from something, but I had no clue as to what. The reason escaped me. The most probable reason was Tainted. Prehaps they were right on his tail when he was running. His ship was reaking of Nomad energy, but he was correct in his transmission to my fighter, he had been running from the Nomad fighters all day apparently. He even drug me away from the airlocks so I wouldn't die of suffociation...a noble deed.

"Orders Major?" she said, dragging me out of my focus on the situation.

"Stay here and continue to monitor the situation, I don't want to swoop into New York space, doing so the last time was...well, you all know. Remain here until we're able to get more of a handle on what's going on."

"Yes sir."

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 03-31-2008

New York System
Planet Manhattan
Northern Districts

"We are arriving at the Northern Districts. All passengers please exit, this is your stop, thank you for riding." said the intercom.

I stepped off the tram and looked out over the city from the balcony. The docks district hardly on the horizion. I looked around a bit more and saw the core of Manhattan very close, along with ships coming and leaving the planet. It was truly a sight to behold. I ruffled my coat a bit to get as much warmth out of it as I could and walked down the catwalk down to the lower levels and eventually the street.

Here is what I had figured out so far...
  • Tainted was a group that for some reason or another edited people they captured and wiped their memories of who they were before. This was to brainwash them into believing something else. What I had no idea yet, as I had very few memories of what they implanted into me, thanks to Black Company.
  • On the subject of Black Company, they were renegades to the cause of Tainted, they faught them with what appeared to be Guerrilla warfare. They couldn't take them on head on, because there were far too few of them.
  • Sarah had either a hate or love for me, I couldn't tell. Takashi was Tainted's current strongest member, Autumn, if that was her name, wanted me captured and was once my wife.
  • The Dragon tattoo's, including the one on my upper shoulder blade, showed who were the commanders of Tainted. I apparently was one of them.
  • The Order, in one way or another, were monitoring both Tainted and my progress, for some strange reason.
  • The list known as "Keyhole" was a list of people that were to be killed or captured by Tainted. I was on the top of the list and Takashi was listed as "captured" That meant that one time or another, he had escaped the grasp of Tainted and fled, similar to how I had.
  • Shan-Katacuchi was captured by Tainted and possibly being forced to change into whatever the hell I was now, or as a barganing chip to get me to come to them and save her, which I was in no shape to do.
  • The implants that they put in me were working on and off, and when they worked, I was unable to keep a sane state of mind, I seemed to want only blood when in that mode, I had gone through what Sarah called "Ignition."
  • The people that freed me from the prision I was in when I first woke up with my amneisa, were Black Company, but Autumn was with them, seemingly a spy, but she faked her own death to get out of them, and resume her leadership of Tainted. But, why would Black Company welcome her presence?
The basics of what I had figured out were for the most part cluttered. But some worked together to make sense. The only thing that puzzled me was, Autumn was with them when I was freed, why was she there if Black Company swore her their enemy?

I made it to the bottom and hailed a taxi.

"Where you heading?" he asked.

"Take me to..." I thought long and hard about it.

"A Hotel, I don't care which one, just make sure it's a five star at least."

"Yes sir." he said and the taxi took to the sky.

Chapter Three: Ignition - Leo - 04-06-2008

OORP: I havn't posted in a while and I'm sorry for slacking, I assure you, it won't happen again.

~Leo

-------------------

We arrived at the hotel at dusk and people were coming in and out of the hotel. Men in suits rushed around, a few were sending their mistresses home quickly because their wives were coming for a "suprise" visit. I could only imagine what the others were doing. Several talked on their phones, yelling at the person at the other end who obviously messed up somewhere and lost them a few million. Crime lords left and entered, opposing factions glared at each other as they passed by, drug cartels drove past in expensive hovercars.

And here, little old me stepped out of a taxi, the irony. I checked into the south penthouse and plopped down on the sofa, staring out at the sky. Ships came and went, dissappearing into the night sky, transports landed on nearby landing pads and offloaded their cargo, then reloading and taking back off into the sky. Police chased criminals as they flew past at break neck speeds. "Lineburners." I thought with a smile. The equal to 20th century Earth street racing. These were the small time racers, still planet side and unable to get into space because of lack of credits.

I heard laughter in the penthouse across the hall. Small children playing with new toys. They screamed with delight as their parents tried despiratly to quiet them down. I smiled as I looked at the closed door, straining to see through it. Had my parents loved me? For the life of me, the only person I could remember was my mother, and those were shattered and broken memories. I knew she cared for me, I could feel that much. But what happened to her? Did she die in some tragic accident?

What about my father? I had no memory of him. But she had clearly mentioned him from what I could recall of the memory. Something about we were going to daddies, and then...

The ship shook violently and my mother screamed in pain. She turned around and released me from my child restraints, I was crying. I didn't understand what was going on, it was all a blur.

"Kyoto! Come in Kyoto! This is Ann Uzamaki! I'm ejecting my child to space. He needs a home, my ship is becoming damaged severely!"

"We hear you Uzamaki, we're dispatching a wing of fighters. We're picking up a few battleships and a wing of bombers and fighters. We're sending the fleet to destroy the infidels, hold in there!"

My mother kissed me on the forehead, tears rolling down her cheeks.

"I will see you soon Leo."

A woosh sound and I was floating in space in a pod, the resulting explosion made me start to try, I had lost my mother.

I came out of the memory crying. My mother had been shot down by the bastards. I grabbed the closest thing to me and hurled it across the room, hitting the forcefield window and bouncing off it like nothing happened. I got to my feet, more somber than I was before. I looked at the mirror in the room, and got one of the first real detailed looks at myself.

Jet black medium length hair, slightly muscular. A neat scar from my lower ear to my throat. My eyes were what shocked me the most. They were amber colored, almost golden. So golden they looked like they could almost be glowing all by themselves. I looked at my hair, a mess naturally. I rubbed my hand through it and found it gritty. Had I taken a shower in the past few days? I couldn't remember. I had been wearing the same clothes for a few days too...but I didn't have any more clothes. I took off my clothes and put them in a basket. I set the basket at the elevator that led into the penthouse and called the front desk. I informed then that I had some clothes that needed washed and they told me they would take care of it.

I relaxed in the large tub for what seemed like hours and reviewed the information that I had collected a few more times before draining the tub and putting the newly cleaned clothes on. I went to the lobby and purchased some new ones. I bought something called a portable closet. It locked on to my clothes, shrunk them into data and loaded it into a small handheld clip that hooked into my datapad. Whenever I needed a change of clothes, I would have it. I got fitted for a suit and bought it then and there. Hell it was time to treat myself. I went to dinner, ate more than my share, and left for the club downtown.

The club was really hopping tonight, the bouncer let me in when I rolled up in the rented sportscar and when I entered the club, I proceeded to dance, but was stopped by a tall man with a military cut. I was shocked to be looking at Commander Jadyn in the flesh.

"I'm not here to kill you Leo. The bounty has been made null and void for what they are doing...we need to talk."
