Destrier - Unseelie - 12-12-2011 Soo, gents, I give you a militarized Clydesdale, my third model ever. It needs work. Mk 1 https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-O7npId4D...rierCompile.png Mk2 https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-VIwYl5lb...ier2Compile.png I'm hopeful you can figure out what I'm doing there. No, its in no way a finished product. Thoughts, ideas, critiques appreciated. [font=Times New Roman][color=#F96807]A bit too big again, so these ones also became links. Keep them less then 700px wide please - Widow. Destrier - Markus_Janus - 12-12-2011 I am just enjoying watching your evolution through the process of modelling. Destrier - Tachyon - 12-12-2011 That's not too bad. Bretonia Armed Transport, sounds good, but it looks too much like a barrel to me. Destrier - Toaster - 12-12-2011 I wanna take that thing, go into New York and shout BARREL ROLL system wide while rolling around Manhattan. Destrier - Stefz - 12-12-2011 Looks nice. Armored transport or maybe even Bretonia repair ship? 8| Destrier - Tachyon - 12-12-2011 ' Wrote:Looks nice. Armored transport or maybe even Bretonia repair ship? 8| If it should be a bretonian repair ship, it has to have more gear-like looking things on it in my opinion. Robotic arms for example. The point is a good one, though; why not having house-specific repair ships, even if it is just for immersion ? Destrier - jammi - 12-12-2011 The concept was to be a combat variant of the Clydesdale. In effect, more armour, more power, less cargo. Basically, it'd be a Bretonian SHF. The shape isn't quite right yet, but Uns is working on it: third ever model and all that jazz, y'know? The main variation between this and the Clyde, is the Destrier will have a second 'rill plate' further forward on the hull. A rill plate is the secondary hull that's raised from the main hull - on the Clyde, it's at the rear of the ship. On the Destrier, there's a second plate that sits slightly more snug to the hull that protrudes from underneath the first one. In effect, this gives it a much more heavily armoured appearance, given that the hull, then second and first rill plate gives it a ridged appearance, similar to the Dunkirk's back. The texture will probably be altered too, to have a grey/black overlay. That's the basic shape up in the first post, and Uns is working on refining the model to pick out some more of the details that make the Clyde such an iconic freighter. Destrier - Unseelie - 12-12-2011 I've seen some amazing things built in Wings3D. As yet, I'm still trying to break away from compliling fairly standard geometric shapes...tonight, my project will be to build a set of clydesdale style armour shell, with double rill plating, that is much more smooth than the geometrics I have worked with before. If anyone has any pointers on how to move from fairly simple geometric shapes into a much smoother design in wings 3d, please do shout them out. Destrier - Azan27 - 12-12-2011 Try curving some rills (you know what I'm talking about) around the cockpit, something like two of them on the sides making a semi-halo around the front view of the cockpit. Also, make the cockpit less round. All in all, nice ship. However, I thought the Clyde was already militarized? I mean, its the most combat-y freighter out there. |
