UPDATE (Most recent): Moving server to a new router due to errors on the router causing problems connecting. Please bear with us, this transition should be swift. This change will solve the problems we are having currently and lead to a very stable connection. See you all in game soon!
UPDATE3: Server is back online! Note I am getting messages saying that some people are having issues logging on, I'm currently tracking down the cause of this. However if you are one of the ones effected by this issue you can try adding the server IP to connect it is 24.18.3.200:2735 This seems to fix the problem for most people.
UPDATE2: Server is going offline for maintenance, we will be back shortly.
UPDATE1: This server is now online on a slower connection, not to worry, it will be on a T3 connection in two weeks. This is an opportunity for everyone to get a bit of a head start on their characters. Note that the rules on this server are still being reviewed, if we (the admins) find that abuse is having a detrimental effect on the overall enjoyment of the server then the rules will be changed accordingly, if these changes result in loss of equipment or a ship change the effected players will be fully reimbursed for credits spent.

I would also like to touch on some of the questions/comments posted in here really quick.
@Boss: "T3? Can I get on board with this project?" That depends on what you mean. If you are wanting an [Admin] or [RE] character I will need some trustworthy references from the official RP server first. Otherwise these character tags are offered by invite only. Invites will be offered to only the most exceptional players on the server, by that I mean players who show helpfulness, respect, and honesty to the highest degree.
@Xing: "Can I RP captain Picard?" If your serious then the answer is yes, I don't mind if people want to RP famous characters, however they will only be allowed by request and only one will be allowed (so there will never be more than one Picard on the server for example) People who want to RP a certain well known character should PM me before making the character. Note that these types of characters will be deleted after 10 days of inactivity and should PM me if they plan to go on an extended vacation. In addition to this there are other rules they will have to adhere to in order to make them realistic, PM me for details.
@zap_evn: Rules will constantly be evaluated, we intend to strive for balance on this server as far as rules go, while at the same time avoiding overbalancing.
In about a month I will be launching a Discovery RP server based in the US West Coast, it will be running on a T3 connection and will be a 24/7 server. This server will run a revised version of the official RP rules, notable changes listed below.
1) Starting funds will be 50,000 credits.
2) Admins will bear an [Admin] tag on at least one of their ships, rule enforcers will bear a [RE] tag on ALL rule enforcement ships. Having one of these tags without admin permission will result in an instant ban without a warning or refund. [Admin] ships may be attacked just like any other as long as RP rules are followed, it is a fineable offense to attack a [RE] ship fineable up to 10,000,000 credits per offense.
3) Ramming of capital ships will be OK, intentional repeated ramming will be illegal.
4) A couple other minor slightly less restricting PvP rules will be in place.
5) Equipment does not have to match the ID tag on your ship! This is to reflect the fact that in a "real" universe it would be perfectly logical that a Corsair might high jack an Outcast ship/equipment and use them. I felt it was really unrealistic that this restriction was in place before. However if an [Admin] or [RE] player asks you about the ship/eq you must submit an appropriate RP answer (such as "I stole it from a corsair titan during a raid near planet Crete") this rule will be leniently enforced and may change if it becomes an issue. Capital ships will still be required to use weapons from their faction and abusing this rule by for example equipping a Liberty Navy ship with all Nomad weapons (as opposed to just one or two) will be illegal. Note that his rule is still being evaluated and may change before the server launch next month.
In order to help combat rampant cheating there will be harsh well monitored auto-serverside rule enforcement. There will also be 5 [Admin] players and 10-20 [RE] players at server launch (these characters will all be played by different people and all have already been recruited!) that's 15-25 players to aggressively enforce the rules at server launch! More will be recruited after that by invitation only!

strongly, very strongly recomend you remove that right for ramming. its very oorp exploitation of game glitch due to game engine, and terribly annoying to the poor battleship flyer.

Thanks Xing, we really didn't test that much. I'll get all the admins and rule enforcers together tomorrow and we'll test it out some. But if it's as big of an issue as you say we'll definitely remove the right to ram altogether.
