Ship Exeter, captain, and crew completed the following three-leg trade route: LD-14 -> Battleship Norfolk: Mox Cambridge -> Manhattan: Luxury Food Manhattan -> LD-14: Boron We experienced some luxury food spoilage due to trip length, but the profit was still substantial. Overall profit for all three legs was approximately 10 million. This amount needs to be verified. Note: Since this was an exploratory trade run, it has not been approved by Sir. Alisdair. Please confirm with him before expending ship resources. I appreciate very much Mr. Constantine's trade report, including whatever profit numbers can be tracked and relayed. I would ask all pilots to make such reports from time to time, as it adds to our data concerning trade route quality and profitability. Mr. Bader, thank you for making the transition to the Eagle. I am sorry the Stinger situation did not work out. I would ask the security division pilots (as soon as we have more than one) to make similar reports regarding escort experiences, including suggestions for safer flying, etc. I would appreciate as well a frank discussion, as you have time, of our convoy's pirate encounter the other night. Other than a more immediate response (i.e., turning around) by the convoy, how might it have been handled differently, perhaps more effectively? Next time, I will not be so free with the funds, I guarantee you. You all are doing an excellent job! Yours, Sir Alisdair HGL Comm System: CLOSED Gateway Shipping communications - beander2 - 04-04-2008 HGL Comm System: OPEN From: Sir Alisdair Buchanan To: All Personnel Subject: New Hire/Promotion & Diplomatic Adjustment Gentlemen (I look forward to the day when I can say "Ladies" as well!): It is my pleasure to announce the hiring of Mr. Gunther Koch (BaconSoda) to the position of Director of Trade Operations (DTO). He comes to us from Kruger Minerals in Rheinland, and his experience and knowledge of interstellar geography, house markets, and corporate diplomatic relations make him an invaluable asset to our organization. Mr. Gunther will have direct authority over HGL trade operations, including trader pilots. His callsign is Gateway)Caernarvon, so please welcome him when you see him. Helping Mr. Koch in this new endeavor is newly promoted Assistant Director of Trade Operations (ADTO), our own Mr. Duncan Idaho (gauliez), Gateway)Londonderry. He, too, will have authority over trader pilots, and will be assisting Mr. Koch in trade research as well as in new pilot setup and training. If either of these gentlemen are part of an HGL convoy, they are considered to be in command of that convoy. Congratulations to both of these fine gentlemen on their new appointments! ----- Also, an important update to our diplomatic relations. The Mollies (Union of Gold - UoG) are now considered NEUTRAL to HGL. Political developments in Bretonia are leading in the direction of legal autonomy for the Mollies in Dublin, and various UoG pilots have recently assisted Bretonian forces in resisting the encroachment of pirates into Bretonian space. They are to be treated with respect and HGL hospitality. Rogue Mollies (//NPCs//) are to be ignored. If political developments warrant, it is hoped that UoG will be transferred to the "Friendly" category. Buchanan out. I will prove worthy of the confiance you showed me Sir. I will try hard to manage my new tasks as well as keeping a regular pilot activity. Speaking of it, I met today with Kenneth Constantine, the captain of the Exeter. Together, we decided to ship some Beryllium to the Ring in New Berlin. We had no problem reaching it and came back with Engine Parts for Cambridge. On our way back though, we were stopped by two corsairs, Cap.Death and Eagle_One, and taxed 1.5 mils each. We almost avoided them, but had to stop to escape run because of a mechanical failure. After that unlucky episode, we decided it would be safer to bring some Luxury Food to Manhattan. Those Libertonians sure eat a lot ! We requested an escort from SA as soon as we enterd Liberty space and got it. On the way back, we decided to bring some Boron to LD-14 in Leeds. This time, we decided to hire an escort, and the Mercenary Thuald proposed his services. We safely arrived to Leeds, and Thuald even showed some interest in joining our security forces. He was paid 1.5 mils for his exemplary services. All in all, a good day for trading, Duncan Idaho, Captain of the Londonderry HGL Comm System: CLOSED Gateway Shipping communications - Potocello - 04-05-2008 HGL Comm System: OPEN From: Nigel Montgomery, Coventry To: All personal Subject: Trade Report Good day gentlemen! Today a new trade root was completed by the Coventry crew in company with the Londonderry crew and our Security head. We started at LD-14, Leeds --> Manchester Jump hole in Leeds. Manchester --> Magellin Magellin --> California Battleship Yukon with MOX The best MOX prices are now at Battleship Yukon We proceeded to Newark Station, New York --> Manchester Manchester --> Manchester Jump Hole in Leeds to LD-14 to deliver our Boron Close to the Manchester Jump Hole we found a Jump Hole to Magelln - if we use this our route to and from LD could be shortened even more --> At the jump holes there were a large amount of NPC Outcasts and Mollys To the director of trade, would these jump holes be allowed in the future? Since they are not main trade lines i am not sure if this would be permitted. The Londonderry Captain decided it was a question that the Director should answer. Congratulations Duncan! This is Nigel Montgomery, Captain of the Coventry signing out. Currently I am working with Herr Idaho in compiling a list of acceptable trading runs, but would like to advise you to refrain from trading with: Daumann Heavy Construction, Republican Shipping, Universal Shipping, and BowEx until the list of acceptable trading policies and routes is compiled. I would greatly like to encourage trading with Planetform, Kruger Minerals, ALG and the IMG operations in Omega-7. I would also enjoy any trade route information any of you may have, even though Herr Idaho and I are compiling the list, we are sure to miss something, so, please, direct any messages to me or him regarding preferred trade routes. On the topic of jump holes, I would like to say that I wouldn't condone their use, as the effects of naturally occurring jump holes has not yet been discovered by Ageira Technologies. Needless to say, they are also frequented by pirates, which I know none of us would like to meet. I would say stick to the trade lanes.
